They are a wonderful wildlife plant not only for the bees. Water gathers in the cups, made by the leaf formation, on the plants stem. Insects and small birds can drink from these. The seeds are eaten by the goldfinch and other birds in autumn and winter. Medicinally there is no value, at least I have never read anything.

I think it is a wild flower you either love or hate.......Cherylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14802468583972118464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6731821301433751344.post-51692230419200592282008-07-06T07:57:00.000+01:002008-07-06T07:57:00.000+01:00Hi CherylHave heard the name before, but didn't kn...Hi Cheryl

Have heard the name before, but didn't know what teasels were. So sorry you aren't feeling well. There is something going around here too. I'm so excited for you-getting a new water feature. Sounds like such fun to be doing it together. Your apple blossom penstemon is just the one I have. Only I have mine in a container. It was sold as an annual, but doesn't specify on the tag. I wonder if I could plant it in the ground this fall?
Hope you get well soon!beckiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06400859161321357279noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6731821301433751344.post-39294219940814981062008-07-05T22:04:00.000+01:002008-07-05T22:04:00.000+01:00Great bee photo's. It is not overly large but very colorful so I'm anxious to see what I can find from time to time.

It is a shame some people are so afraid of bees, but I understand the situation in some cases where allergic reactions to a sting could be very serious. I have always found that they are very pleasant little creatures and as long as you don't put them in any severe situation (like trapping them or swatting them with your hand) they tend to just go about their business.Baker Watsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06431580638031405772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6731821301433751344.post-49480331320309437312008-07-05T20:09:00.000+01:002008-07-05T20:09:00.000+01:00Cheryl, I have just left an award (not a TAG!) for...Cheryl, I have just left an award (not a TAG!) for you on my blog.
