Blooms

There is a lot of colour in the garden at the moment.........and some new blooms to show you.Coreopsis is a particular favourite of mine, I have to grow it in a large tub, the reason being that rabbits love this plant. It would never survive in a border.
This astilbe is just starting to bloom, its a new plant that I bought at the supermarket. It is a lovely colour.
This hydrangea is in a tub, and I must say I think they put on a better show. The plants that I have in borders look straggly by comparison.
This lily was left by the previous owner and stands around two metres high. It is in the middle of an island bed and you can smell it all around the garden....it is quite amazing.
I love the crocrosmia they really do stand out in the beds....
I have three of these lavatera shrubs, they are planted in the woodland walk area of the garden. They really do put on a show and will continue their display right the way through to September.
Allium drumsticks are just starting to show signs of colour. I love it when they flower, they will be covered in bumblebees.
Penstemon apple blossom......I am surprised this plant is still around. They do not do well here, three years is around their limit. The gardening is quite demanding at the moment......I was going to finish trimming the hedges today but have come down with some sort of virus. I am hoping I will feel a bit better tomorrow..........Mr Practical is starting a new garden project for me.....a water feature........I am so excited I love water in the garden........

You indeed have some beautiful color going on in your garden Cheryl.

Can you believe I can't get coreopsis to grow here. I don't know why. I have had it for a couple of years then it dies away. Do you have to dead head yours?

Some great blooms...I think I have gotten fairly lucky with the rabbits, but part of our yard is protected by random visits from our dog.

I like the look of the Allium drumsticks even before it is in bloom...although bumblebees might make it pretty impressive.

Hi Chris.....Our local fox does take the rabbits...but we have enough for everybody here....you do get used to it....just have to think differently.

You are right with the alliums that look fabulous covered in bees....

Dear Cheryl,
So hope you feel better very soon. Having another water feature will be delightful.
Lovely blooms. You have a parade of flowers all growing season. Very nice for bugs and birds and people!

Your flowers are pretty. I love the colours. I also do a lot of container gardening. It seems to work better for some plants.
Do take care and I hope you get over your virus soon.

Dear Sherry.....my garden has flowers all year for the bees. Sometimes on a warm winters day they come out of hibernation too early, so I planned the garden to bloom continuosly with bee blooms.
I am looking forward to the water feature. We saw the most beautiful fountain in a garden centre and that started the whole thing of. I will show you all as time progresses.....
I hope you have a wonderful weekend Sherry, my best wishes...

container gardening is fun and grouped together can look stunning, I think.
Enjoy your weekend, hope hubby is doing ok....
