Frogs and whimsy......

I had a visitor yesterday.....this little frog (around 2" long) came to the pond......
It is either a Marsh Frog or an Edible Frog..........time will tell on that one......it is good to see wildlife arriving......
While browsing in a junk yard I came across this little girl and thought she would fit in perfectly with the water feature........

Cheryl, If he's an edible frog, that doesn't mean you'll be having him for dinner, does it...?

I went shopping at a local garden center the other day, hoping to find some bargains on their statuary. Even on sale, they were too expensive for me. What a find you made in the junk yard! She's perfect!

Hi Rose.....no definately not...I do not have any french blood, as far as I know.....no he will have a long and happy life here...but you did make me smile.....

I love this little girl.....she lays down to read just as dear little Poppi does......she looks well aged as well....which I like....

What a sweet little creature - the frog. I do hope nobody will eat him!
Just read Rose's comment and I must say I have to agree. Even on sale at the end of the summer, those garden statuaries are way too expensive.
You've found a treasure, Cheryl.

Dear Cheryl,
Sweet frog! I always enjoy seeing the frogs and toads. This one has found a happy home with you.
Wonderful find at the junk shop!
I adore junk shops.
Laying down to read is the joy of a young body...I am not sure I would be able to get back up.
She is charming.

Dear Sherry.....I love frogs and toads to....they eat slugs, so they will help me with the vast numbers I have at the moment.....

I am thrilled with my find at the junk yard....you are right only a young body could lay down like that....I can still do it, but it's most uncomfortable, therefore not enjoyable...lol....I will leave it to little Poppi....

Don't you wonder how they find water? I'm glad he fond yours. He doesn't know it yet, but he's in the best place possible and will have a great home as long as he wants. I thought of Poppi the minute I saw the statue. She looks very much at home on the bench-reading by the pond on a warm summer's day. I don't seem to have much luck finding things like that-glad you did.

I love garden whimsy and discovering it round corners in the garden. Yours was a great find.

There's something timeless about frogs in ponds. Unlike fish, they can come and go as they please. I discover our tiny green ones in the water butts, fountain and the big papyrus plant pot. ~What a racket they can make for such tiny creatures.

Great frog photo's. It's funny that since spring and early summer I haven't been able to get any frog photo's other than the tiny ones along the edges of the pond. The big guys just stay to well hidden I guess.

And great find on the girl reading. You have to love flea markets, thrift stores, and junk yards. One can come across the most interesting treasures at times.

I love her pose. It's as though she is reading and yet drifting off in a dream imagining strange and wonderful things and far away places. A great reminder of the power of books to inspire both young and old.

It amazes me to Beckie....how do they find water, it is incredible.....

Hi Ladyluz....frogs are wonderful for clearing slugs from the garden, that is why I love them so much...but they are timeless, you are quite right....

Hi Baker....I certainly did not expect to get the frogs in an ornamental pond...it was great to see him....

I love the way you describe the little girl and her pose.....

Like everyone else I agree what a find at the junk yard! However, I am a bit partial to frogs so I am so excited that you have a new friend!

Your frog is marvelous. I like frog legs. I wouldn't want to eat a frog from my garden. It would seem too personal. Ha...

Love the little girl reading by your pond. She is a lucky find.
