Non-flowering plants.......

Fungi has always fascinated me...........
As a small child I would wander the woods with my parents.........

trying to find toadstools or mushrooms.....even a fairy or two........

I am still looking for fairies...........but today found lots of fungi in my garden......
there are over 10,000 fungus species in Britain............
they break down living or dead organic matter............
and recycle it for eventual use by other creatures...............

Now this looks like it may have a fairy hidden somewhere!!

Cheryl, I love your fungi photos. It's amazing the different shapes, colors and sizes they come in. We have lots during the spring, but fall also brings a few types. I think you are right about the fairys hiding some where close to them. Have a great weekend!

Fungi are the most intersting plants. Lichen and moss are right up there too. It is amazing to see how many different colors of them you can find. Yes, I might be able to see a fairy wing nestled in that moss near the mushroom umbrella. Fairies need those here right now. It is raining. Yipeeee.... we need the rain.

Fungi can be...fun...to hunt and view ;-) It is amazing how they fill spaces you might not expect with different colors and shapes.

Your toadstools are pretty. I like to look at the delicate fluting underneath the top. Oh yes, there are certainly some faeries hiding beneath the toadstools!

I think those fairies must see you coming near with your camera and hiding out, Cheryl:) You've captured some interesting shapes here. I haven't noticed any fungi here lately, but then it's been very dry...until today. Rain and the cold are settling in.

We don’t get many in Florida except during the rainy season, they are great to photograph. You did a great job.

Cheryl, I didn't realize fungi broke down organic matter. I loved the shot of the moss in the background. It looks so lovely, cool, and soft.

Fairies are there. You just don't see them.

Hi Morningglories.....neither did I actually until a couple of years ago.....I bought a book on fungi and was just amazed at how important they are......you learn something everyday......

Dear Cheryl,
These are lovely pictures. Your camera is learning to see like you.
The robin on your headed is a beautiful bird. Your picture is lovely too.
It is so good to learn how each aspect of nature has a role...important role too. The fungi are so important and your pictures show how beautiful they are. The Fairies have always known how lovely the mosses and the mushrooms are. Wonderful for soft sleeping spots and fine for dancing. My fairy rings always have a few toadstool chairs too. Lately when I look at moss I see felt...clouds also look like felt.
Fun post! Thank you.

It is cold at my house
and I smell snow.
The north wind is blowing
the clouds are low.
Brr....
Cocoa time.
Hugs,
Sherry
