Beautiful Tree Creeper........

The Tree Creeper is looking for insects.........she will find plenty I am sure.......
I am an organic gardener.....I do not use sprays of any kind. I am trying to create harmony and balance in my garden........

It is better for my health........it is better for wildlife......it is better for Mother Earth.

Note: Click on first photograph to see just how beautiful she is........

It's nice to appreciate the little things that nature gives us. Over here in the USA I think the comparable species is the brown creeper. It is great that you have one in your organic garden.
Enjoy the day.

I love seeing your birds! Your Tree Creeper looks the same as our Brown Creeper in N America. I have never had an opportunity for a good picture as they blend in so well with the bark of the tree. I have never seen one in my garden.

Such a great series of photos! I don't often get to see these little guys as they blend in so well wiht the bark. But when I do, I love o watch then circle up a tree. I have quit using sprays in my gardens-the roses have suffered but all else seems to be doing well. I will give up a few roses to see bees and butterflies!

Hi Racn4acure.....that is interesting....thank you for the information....it is good to know of similar birds in other parts......

Cheryl said...

Hi Ruth....they blend beautifully with the oak bark....I just caught the movements out of the corner of my eye......he was halfway up the tree, I was lucky to get these photographs.....

Hi mountain musings......it is a lovely bird....R U an organic gardener by any chance??

Cheryl said...

Hi Beckie....they are gorgeous little birds.....

Well done you...giving up spraying is good for you to Beckie.....remember when we spray, we inhale.....
Your roses will come back and if you can hang on in there, over the next couple of years you will a lot more bees and butterflies coming to visit........and lots of other creatures too......

Your little tree creeper is precious, and I LOVE your header - what a pretty bird in it too.
Thanks for your compliment on my painting on photo hunt. Yes, I do love birds & have been a bird-watcher since 7 yrs. old. ( Uh-oh; that's 70 yrs.!) And I am so proud of you for not using pesticides or other harmful chemicals. I don't either.
Your blog is wonderful
Lovingly, G G :)

We have a Brown Tree Creeper that migrates to our area during winter. It is a sweet little bird. One of my favorites.

You are getting really good with your new camera Cheryl. Those birds don't have a chance to get away now.

Oh I'm with you 100% on organic gardening. Insecticides are banned in our town, but I'd not use them anyway. Too harsh - and as you pointed out, not good to inhale them.
I like your little treecreeper - and what a descriptive name. Looks like it was a beautiful day in your garden - the sky so blue.

what a cute treecreeper. love to see her in your environment and sure she is quite happy. we are doing our garden as natural as possible and learning more everyday. no pesticides here either. wonderful images!

Cheryl said...

Dear Graceanne....The little bird in the header is a blue tit....I have many here.....I to love birds. My mother tells a story of me sitting in my pram watching a bird in the tree....apparently it kept me happy all the while it was there. That has a not change. You do indeed have a wonderful talent with your painting......

Cheryl said...

Hi Lisa.....our Tree Creeper stays with us......so can be sighted anytime of the year....

I am still learning with the camera....good days....bad days.....but I am enjoying it now, and that is the main thing.....

Cheryl said...

Hi Wendy....I have been so pleased to read others comments...their are many organic gardeners.....how wonderful that your town does not allow them, I like that....

It was a very cold day but wonderful blue skies......

Cheryl said...

Hi Marmee I look forward to seeing your journey as you progress.....i love to see spaces changing.......

She is beautiful and delicate and I am amzed how small but strong enough to peck through the tree bark!
Yes going GREEN in our gardens the only way!

Cheryl said...

Hi Naturegirl....they are such amazing little birds.......there beak is designed to peck easily into the bark.....their claws are long so give them easy grip and their tail is strong so gives them good balance.......perfect for climbing trees......

Gail said...

Cheryl,

Thank you for the gentle reminder that there is so much more going on in the garden! I have been having a big pity party about the cold weather and letting it keep me inside! It's time to put the big girl panties (and other layers) on and get out side and embrace what is!

Your tree creeper is delightful! isn't it wonderful that they climb up and down a tree's bark!

Keep warm!

Gail

Cheryl said...

Hi Gail......I couldn't have put it better myself....I like the 'big girl panties' line, it made me smile.....I do have my thermal vest on though! lol

I love exploring this time of year.....you will be amazed at what is out there....with all the leaves gone, we can see so much more......

Tree Creeper is great......

Hi sweet friend... I am very interesting in knowing what an organic gardener uses on roses to prevent rose infestation, diseases & Pests... I would love to care for my roses organically, but I don't have any idea was best... I'm sure there are lots of books out there that could be of help... any name? ;) by the way, the house in the roses is having a party and I would love to see you there.... come and see all about it! ;)

Hugs

Great pictures of the tree creeper.
It does look very like the brown creeper I have seen a time or two at our trees, moving fast up the tree then dropping freefall toward the ground only to scurry up another trunk.
It is good to hear so many gardeners are concerned about wildlife.

Lovely little Treecreeper, Cheryl. I have seen Brown Creepers here during the winter. It is so much fun to watch them creep around the trunk of the tree looking for insects.

I believe in organic gardening too. I grew up with parents that gardened organically, so it just seemed like the natural thing to do! I noticed you have had some questions about making the change, and I think it is a change in attitude more than anything. One must get away from the idea of perfect roses or whatever. Let the insects feast on what they will. Natural predators will come in and keep a balance in the garden. What do you think?

Mary said...

I wonder if a tree creeper is the same as our nuthatches?

Cheryl, you do well. We keep our trees and gardens bug-filled also and we like it that way.

What a delightful bird! How i'd love to see one in my garden. You're doing a wonderful thing by gardening organically and creating a sanctuary, and I look forward to reading more of your posts. (Found your blog from Garden Grit.)
Cheers!

Cheryl said...

Dear Cielo.......Organic gardening is more a change of attitude than finding an alternative. When I came here the garden was very sad.....the shed was full of chemicals.......I was horrified.

I cleared the shed and let nature heal.......I grow climbing roses, wild roses and miniatures......I keep them healthy by adding plenty of organic matter in spring and mid summer....and making sure they are not overcrowded.....apart from that I do nothing.....the birds take the insects.......and I always make sure they are well watered.....
When you have balance in a garden you have very few problems.....It is just a matter of ignoring what is happening the first couple of years. Not everyone can do that, it depends on how commited you are to our beautiful planet......

I hope that is of some help.....we are all different, you must decide what is best for you......

Thank you for asking.......

Cheryl said...

Hi Morning Glory.....wonderful to speak to someone who it totally organic.....I am to.....the insects feast, the birds eat the insects.......I am not precious about my plants and yet they survive and do well.....It has taken seven years to get that balance here......I have found it easy....I let nature take care of this space, I am just the plantswoman.......

Great to talk to you......

Hi again Cheryl:-)

How thrilling to have the Treecreeper as a regular garden visitor/worker :-D

I have seen it a couple of times now (NIMG) but it is so tricky to spot isn’t it? What fantastic camouflage it has. Thank-you you for sharing these wonderful clear images of the Treecreeper in your garden :-D

Cheryl said...

Hi Mary....the Tree Creeper is not the same as your Nuthatch.....we have Nuthatch here to, although I have never seen one in the garden.....they do look very similar......

Good to hear that you leave all those bugs.........

Cheryl said...

Hi Shirl......you are so right, it is very difficult to spot....it blends so beautifully with the bark.....
It is great to have it here.....I have seen it several times working the same tree.....must be lots of bugs there!!
I think they visit because we have a lot of mature oaks in the garden and surrouding area.......

Cheryl, I am always learning something new from you--I've never heard of a tree creeper. I wonder if we have them in the U.S. Who is the lovely little bird in your header, too?

I visited the Botanical Gardens here in Phoenix yesterday, and when I get back I have a couple bee photos to share with you. It seemed so strange to see bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds (!) flitting about here while everything is so cold back home.

Cheryl said...

Hi Rose.....Beckie tells me that you have the creeper in your part of the world. The pretty little bird in the header is the Blue Tit, I have around 15 in my garden, they stay all year......

How lovely to be seeing the butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.......paradise eh??
Hope you are soaking some of the sunshine up for me.....

Safe travelling and have lots of fun......

Hi Cheryl,
I've not seen a Tree Creeper here in the USA, in Virginia. But we do have the Carolina Wren, which in many ways, seems to resemble your little sweetie. I like looking at your photos so much! Jan

Thank you Jan....you are most kind.......

Dear Cheryl,
She is lovely!!
We have them too. I love the way they blend in...
Your photographs are so sharp and clear. You have a steady hand my dear! I am so happy you and your camera and new long lens are bonding. I love seeing your birds.
Blue Tits are so cute!
I am also "wowed" by the Robin in your today's post.
I do love winter more and more even though I miss the bugs.
Happy birding!
Sherry

Thank you Sherry.....a steady hand sometimes, not always. The creeper was a long way up, so I was pleased with these photographs....and I do love this particular bird.

Did you enlarge the robin.....it is actually a beautiful photograph......
