Falling in love again......

It has taken a long time for me to love my camera. When Mr P gave it to me last year as a surprise, I was speechless. Not wanting to appear ungrateful, I gave my old camera to someone who really needed it, and started using the new one straight away.
Without doubt, the camera and I had a hate - hate relationship.....

I do not do technical.....I do not read manuals (so boring).......I could not even tell you anything about my camera, except that it is a Canon.......

There were times when I longed for my old camera.......it understood me......I understood it......
Then a few weeks ago something clicked......the camera and I had a relationship, we were in fact in love. It started to see things, the way I see things......we were working together as a team.
I remember Mr P saying to me when he gave me the camera. "Don't worry you will learn to love it...................eventually" He knows me so very well......

If ever there was a bird that liked it's photo being taken it is this one. He/She follows me around the garden....poses on branches....turning it's little head this way and that. For a little bit of fun, I would like to name him/her. Any suggestions?

Cheryl,

I think the name should be Mischief the little guy looks like he could cause some trouble if you let him.

I am glad you and your camera made up. It wasn't his fault that he came into you life like he did. Your little birdie looks like an Ed or Eddie to me. Handsome little dude.

Using camera's always takes time as you begin to know how much you can push it... I don't believe in rules and instructions and very much learn by playing and that's the great thing about digital as it doesn't cost anything to play around with the settings and so on.

Sorry, I'm terrible at names cheryl... Something that means blue?? Azure, Nila, Cyan? Perhaps a name of a blue flower?

Hi Randy.....Blue Tits are the entertainers of the bird world.....
Mischief....I like it.......

Hi Lisa....He is handsome....strange how the male of the species is coming through.....

Hi Liz....that is so refreshing...everyone I know reads the instructions.....I always feel the odd one out. I don't now, glad there is someone else out there who just plays with their toys......

Tks for suggestions....I thought I would name this bird as I can see he is going to appear in a few posts......

The only name that comes to mind is Tweetheart! What a sweetie it is, ah there's another one Sweetie :)

What a wonderful love affair you have developed with your camera Cheryl, do you have any tips? I have tried reading the manual many times and can't make head nor tail of it!

The photos here are really beautiful, what a lovely companion to have in the garden :)

Hi Jan....as Liz said I think it is just case of playing about with the settings. It has worked for me, although as I said in the post it has taken a long time. I have got there in the end though....hooray.
Tku for the name suggestions......he certainly is cute....

Hi Cheryl - gorgeous photos - how about Bertie - that's kind of a cheeky name and (it has to be a "he")would suit his character! Thought I'd enjoy some blogs whilst having my coffee this morning - must admit this wet weather is really getting me down - all is SO soggy here and making it very difficult to get out and complete work that I really need to do - hope things better where you are! Take care Miranda x

Stewie! I don't know why but that's what sprang to mind. Glad you and your camera had a mind-meld, so to speak. That bird is indeed very sweet!

Cheryl, I have been sitting here trying to think of a name:) The only name that comes to me is Bella, which of course means beautiful, and it rhymes with Nella. That is, of course, if "he" is a "she":) But I like all the other suggestions, too; I'm sure something will come to you.

I would love to have a new camera with better capabilities, but yes, they can be so frustrating. I skim through manuals, but I find most of them are written by "techies" who don't understand the rest of us need very basic instructions. I'm sure the more you experiment with your camera, the more you will grow to love it.

I love this post because you could be talking about many things and relationships besides a camera. The words ring true for so many instances and we can all learn something from it.

Great photographs.

Well, your old camera understands that you just met someone new. :) they are very understanding that way. I am glad that you and your new camera now are in love! How about Cheeky for a name?

Hi Miranda.....we have had sunshine and showers....we are expecting gales and rain tomorrow and for the weekend....

I must say I am quite enjoying it. I have been placing more muck around the garden....as it is so wet it is the ideal time. A local farmer needed to get rid of it, perfect.. I am a compost sort of girl.

Hi Rose...I have struggled with this camera, I really have. I am more a nature nurture sort of girl. I have at last got there and I love it now....I have been playing today and had such fun.

Thank you for joining in the fun with naming the little Blue Tit.....

Cheryl all I see is pretty! I love how your camera is seeing what you see! That bird certainly knows that is so pretty posing!
I am relieved that there is someone else who hates reading manuals..and I am still trying to love my camers a year later!

Ok so he's a male..he's still
pretty....perhaps his name is
~Purdee~! Purdee birdie!

We can all certainly relate to your experience with the camera. I, too, strongly dislike having to learn how to use a new piece of equipment. Your photos are darling, and so is the bird. I think I would call him darlin'.

I'm in a similar relationship with my newest Canon. They just put too many things on the newer models. A camera should not be expected to do everything but the laundry and a photographer shouldn't be expected to deal with movies/music/etc. when he is trying to get a fleeting wildlife photo.

i know exactly what you mean about not doing technical...i want to i just don't have it in me. i never read any manuals...unless something goes very wrong.
i am so happy for you that you and your camera are having a better understanding. by the looks of things a very good understanding.
i am asking for a new lens for christmas.
i love the idea of the bird being called blue boy or beau.
happiest day of autumn to you.

Sweet little guy.

The last time I named a bird...it was a hummingbird and it didn't return the next year :(

Cameras are a pain to use as with computers...I have a love /hate relationship with both.
You seem to be charge of your camera...wonderful pics.

That was a cute post, cute bird, and I love the fact that you are giving him a name! We always try to do that around my house with the many creatures that come around on a regular basis.
The camera is the same story with me too! I love the fact that I have an awesome camera but get frustrated when I can't get good pictures because I know the camera has the capability to!
The name I was thinking about was something to do with Dancer or something because he likes to turn side to side and pose.

Oh I quite understand how you felt about your camera. Sometimes I put new things away for a while. It does take some time to become friends. And then.....

Your blue bird is really sweet. I did miss out on the contest, but I don't think I could come up with a nice name at all. Blueberry? Sounds like a tart or a pie. Bluebell? Sounds like a flower.
Well, I'm glad you've already chosen Blue boy. It really suits.

Hi Cheryl,
I have had my camera a year, and only read part of the manual, then put it down, meaning to finish it later, but haven't. I have problems when buttons get pushed, and I'm not sure how to get out of what I've gotten into.

I'm glad you and your camera are doing well now. Your photos are awesome! The only name for the cute bird that came to mind was, "Shadow".

Thanks for your comment on my GBBD post.
