Such lovely pics of happy bees doing what bees love doing most. The teasels are indeed blooming. During my second holiday I met a beekeeper and will blog about that too, soon-ish. ;-)

Have a lovely weekend!

I have never seen teasel blooming. They don't seem to grow here. I have to go north of here to see them growing.

My FIL made several critters out of dried teasel. They are cute. It would be a fun project for Poppi. Maybe she is too young right now to make them but it won't be long and she could.

Cheryl, I am not ignoring you-honet! As I said computer problems and they couldn't fix it. So bought a new one(this one)but we can't get something up on it so going to exchangeit tomorrow. I just want a computer that works and I can get on, read and blog!

Your bee shots are wonderful. I just am not seeing any. Can't wait to see them on the teasels. Hope your weekend is a happy one.

Oh, your photos are gorgeous!! So full of detail - the bees look as if they'll just fly off the screen. Flowers are lovely too. I'm dying to see the teasels.
Have a great weekend.
p.s. the bunny in your header looks so sweet.

Dear Sherry...the bees are beautiful.....It is strange, is it not, that you are ahead of us with some blooms and visa versa with others......
Enjoy your holiday weekend.

Hi Lisa....what a good idea.....my son years ago bought a hedgehog for me made out of teasels.....thank you for reminding me. When they are dried I will be doing that and will post to show you. It will be fun for Poppi.

These are indeed beautiful bee pictures! I've heard of teasels, but never really seen them--I take it they are quite an attraction to bees?
Sorry about yesterday; I thought I'd left you a comment. A new water feature sounds exciting; that's on my wish list for someday in the garden.
I do hope you're feeling better.

Hi Rose....we have a barrel water feature on the patio....this one will be in the actual garden. I wanted something more for wildlife..... we are doing this project together, I don't know how its going to look at the end but its fun.....

Feeling a bit better but not myself....

Cheryl, I have just left an award (not a TAG!) for you on my blog. If you don't want to pass it on, that's fine.

Great bee photo's. I hope to be getting a few more soon myself as I have asked my neighbor if I could use her flower garden for taking a few pictures. It is not overly large but very colorful so I'm anxious to see what I can find from time to time.

It is a shame some people are so afraid of bees, but I understand the situation in some cases where allergic reactions to a sting could be very serious. I have always found that they are very pleasant little creatures and as long as you don't put them in any severe situation (like trapping them or swatting them with your hand) they tend to just go about their business.

Cheryl, just went back and read your earlier post. So sorry you aren't feeling well. There is something going around here too. I'm so excited for you-getting a new water feature. Sounds like such fun to be doing it together. Your apple blossom penstemon is just the one I have. Only I have mine in a container. It was sold as an annual, but doesn't specify on the tag. I wonder if I could plant it in the ground this fall?
Hope you get well soon!

I can't wait to see the teasels in action! Your first bee shot is nice, I like its strips displayed - so interesting. I'm hunting for the bees here -- I think some new ones have been visiting.

Cheryl said...

Hi Baker Watson...I couldn't agree with you more.....if you are allergic to bees it must be worrying when they are around. Like you I love bees. I have had many settle on me and just ignore them till they decide to leave. Bumbles I find very friendly and the mason bee of course does not sting. I look forward to seeing your photographs...

Cheryl said...

Hi Beckie....Glad to see you back....I would leave the penstemon in the tub. I am actually thinking about digging mine up and putting it in one. I think it is too cold in the winter here for them.....they also don't like the damp....

Look forward to seeing your bees Chris.....

Hi Cheryl

Have heard the name before, but didn't know what teasels were. Google results seem to indicate it is considered a noxious weed here in Oz.
Do teasels have any use other than bee fodder? Am interested to know more about them. xx

Cheryl said...

Hi Naturewitch....info on the teasel is limited. They are a wonderful wildlife plant not only for the bees. Water gathers in the cups, made by the leaf formation, on the plants stem. Insects and small birds can drink from these. The seeds are eaten by the goldfinch and other birds in autumn and winter. Medicinally there is no value, at least I have never read anything.

I think it is a wild flower you either love or hate.......
