I love snowdrops. I would have a garden full of them if I could. Large drifts sweeping across the lawn. I love their fragility........their tiny white and green blooms.......
and today I found one.....sitting alone in the grass......tucked away......I nearly passed it by. What a pleasant surprise..........my steps became lighter. It made me think of spring. It made me smile...........

The crocus and iris have had their heads up for a while now, just waiting for them to actually flower.
Am so looking forward to ours' as well... it's those first signs of life in late winter that give you such a lift on their discovery - a bit like the first arrival of the swallows! Miranda
never saw this delicate flower before that i can recall. i love it seeing as some two of my fav colours in the garden are white and green.
yes in the winter a single bloom can lift the spirit quite nicely.
oh and yes if someone else cooks for me, that also is quite nice.

Oh yes, this would make me smile! It's much too cold here right now to have anything popping out of the ground, though. I did plant lots of crocus and some bluebells and can't wait to see them come up this spring.
I'm having hard times now and sometimes it is hard to notice the good things and let positive mood in. Yet there are things that make me smile like finding some inspiring photos in my blogroll
Oh yes, Cheryl… they definitely do. One single bloom like this makes me smile so much more than a drift :-D
Ah… but drifts are fantastic to see too and I plan to visit some gardens with them at the Snowdrop Festival here in Scotland in Feb/Mar if the weather is okay. Feb is usually our coldest month here :-D

We are on the up side to Spring. Each cold day I remind myself the winds will shift again and Spring will come.
I have snow drops planted but my ground is too frozen to let anything come forth right now.

Hi Marmee......in the UK drifts of snowdrops are planted in public gardens etc.....you also see them in open woods......it is a beautiful sight, believe me.
Having someone to cook for you must be delightful. Mr P does not cook....so I rarely have a meal cooked for me unless we eat out....

Goodness yes! Little things make me smile, and I love snowdrops. Other than England, the only other place I've seen snowdrops growing wild in the woods, is Oregon. Our spring will arrive by pushing up yellow daffodils, and I get excited every year I spot the first one. xoxo

Little things do make us smile. A child's laughter, a beautiful bloom, a cheeky squirrel (when they're not destroying the birdfeeders or eating the tulip bulbs), a gentle breeze across a hot forehead, a stolen kiss (I think I'd better stop here).

The first snowdrops always make my heart skip a beat Cheryl. None out in my garden yet but I noticed a small clump today just across the road showing much whiteness and promise :) If it warms up this week they will open fully. I will be checking tomorrow.

Yes, I love the little things or maybe you'd call it the simple things.
Like the warmth of a fire place,my favorite pillow and conforter or the house plant I just bought.
I think it depends on your values in life.
Our ground is now frozen and today had some snow flurries,but the winter is much shorter than the growing season...and I'm stickin' to it.
Oh yes, it does. Stumbling upon one unexpected flower be it ever so humble and tiny can make my day. Your pretty snowdrop made me smile too.

As I was just walking my dog Mr. BeauJ in the woods, I saw under the sheet of ice on the brook tiny bits of moss & ferns attached to the rocks...to see such bright green in the vast amount of snow and ice does truly bring a smile to my face...
