Temptation.......

I saw this at the garden centre.....something about its simplicity appealed to me......I have hung it in the woodland walk.........amongst the trees.......
As the sunlight catches the ball reflections of the garden appear.........

I am so glad temptation called.....and I bought this......there is something quite magical about it........do you like it??? Be truthful now..........

Cheryl, I can see it reflecting the sun in the dark areas of the woodland. Like dancing fairies. I'll bet Poppi will love it! Sometimes a little temptation is good for the soul. :}

Hi Mimi....tku...it was the softness of the colours that appealed to me........

Cheryl, I'm not usually one for too many garden-artsy things hanging in the garden (you said to be honest)but I have to say... this one is simple and sleek and like you... there is something about the small reflection that does appeal to me. Cheryl, Your garden is so large and beautiful ... it can handle this lovely piece with ease.

I think I see a large stand of ferns in the back ground is that possible?

Hi Beckie.....I am so glad you said that....it is exactly what I tried to create......you have a good eye.....
Poppi will love it.....far too cold to walk the garden with her today.....we had a quiet day inside.......

I walked past the globe several times but something drew me to it....as I walk the garden I can see it here and there, like some magical jewel........

Oh yes I like it. It will be even more intriguing when the copper turns to a soft green patina. It will look like a magic spot where you can see what is going on all around the garden.

Hi Meemes...honesty is exactly what I wanted....even dislike of said piece....I like honest feedback....

The background is a cypress.....photographs can be deceiving, can't they??

Cheryl said...

Hi Lisa......I can't wait for it to get the green tones that copper does........I think it will age well.......and I love the way you see the globe.......

cheryl,

yes! i love it. i am a huge copper fan as you have seen from most of my bird feeders. i have a collection of antique copper kettles and pots on display in my kitchen. i love the idea of the gazing ball being small and surrounded by copper. if i had seen that it would have called to me to and i would have bought it.d brought it right home and found a beautiful spot for it straight away. really good choice!

Dear Cheryl,
Sometimes an art piece calls to me too. I am so happy you listened. This is a charming addition to your garden. Sculptures enhance the gardens and can add whimsy, drama or surprise. I think copper is wonderful. Like Lisa, I think when the copper has it's patina it will be an outstanding piece. You have an eye for beauty. Already I can see it follows you about.
It is a joy to find a garden accent piece in the Winter.
Stay warm by the fire.
Sherry

I love the way this ball catches the reflections of the branches. I've regretted some impulse buys, but then there are things I've purchased because I fell in love with it at first sight. I think you were right to give into this "temptation," Cheryl.

It's absolutely enchanting! I also love copper, it's so old and warm somehow.
I am glad you listened to your inner voice. It's not often I get pulled in to buy something, but when I do....
The last time was several years ago. It was a green swirly bowl. Doesn't sound like much. Maybe I'll post a pic of it.
I do love your magical ball.

Very pretty glazing ball. Adds interest to the winter garden.I just went to the garden mart yesterday and had a blast looking at everything.

Cheryl I have a question.
Is this article true? Have you heard anything like this?
New York Times

Thanks,
Patsi

How beautiful, it will look great in the summer too when the copper gets tarnished!

Like it? Naw, I love it. It's stylish and it reflects images and light. What more can we ask for?

A Blissful 2009 to you and yours Cheryl!

Hi Cheryl

Love the reflections of your garden in the ball. It's like a miniature world in there!

Thanks for your comments re Poppi. Have put a little more about tissue salts in the comments on the doughnut post in response.

One thought - Thyme tea can be very good for strengthening the respiratory system. When I have a cold or am feeling a bit run down I have a cup with a teaspoon of Manuka honey. Thyme has no known contraindications or interactions and is safe to use in pregnancy, so I'm sure it would be safe for a child as well. xx

Hi Gail....that is exactly what I liked, the fact that you could see the garden......

Cheryl said...

Hi Dawny....I wish it was amber.....I have a piece of amber that Mr P bought and that was not cheap......no, dear Dawny, it is just a glass globe, but beautiful anyway........

Cheryl said...

Thank you Marmee.....copper is beautiful and yes I had noticed your copper feeders, they are lovely.

I am glad you like it......i could see it last night....one of the security lights had come on...and believe or not it caught the globe....magical......

Dearv Sherry....I am glad you like the piece....I to will be happy when it is aged......it will have more character......
It does follow me around the garden.....I am enjoying it......

Cheryl said...

The urge was far too strong to resist Rose......I am getting much pleasure from this piece. I keep walking to the area and just looking at it.......no regrets on this one......

Cheryl said...

Thank you Wendy.....I would love to see your green swirly bowl.....I love to see what others enjoy.....
and that is what life is all about.......enjoyment.....

Hi Patsi.....yes that is true.....I watched an item on the news several months ago about this.
Our native squirrel (red) that once could be found all over the UK, is only found in small pockets now. His demise is partly due to the more aggressive grey (non native).....there have been talks in the past of culls etc.....
Squirrel has been put on the menu in some top restaurants, although I have not seen it personally....

I do not eat meat, so it will definately not be on my menu.........

Thanks Libby Yolanda and Naturewitch.....this little piece seems to get the thumbs up.......

Cheryl said...

Thank you Naturewitch re thryme......I do drink it also with manuka honey........and found it most helpful.....
Poppi loves thyme......this year she will be learning about the herbs in the garden.......she has a natural affinity with plants that have a sweet aroma........

I do very much like the piece. But the important thing is that YOU like it. I'm a strong believer that whatever you find pleases you is the most important thing.

And I thought I was the only one so fond of Manuka honey!

Cheryl said...

Hi ncmountainwoman...of course you are absolutely right.....

Manuka honey is great.....I am sure there are many who like it.....

I love bits of whimsy tucked away to delight and surprise a garden wanderer. The color is so rich and earthy--it fits right in with the garden.

Anna said...

It looks like an eye watching out on the garden. It's most attractive. I do not think that I could have resisted. Where there other colours available ?

Cheryl said...

Hi Anna....they did not have many.....but they were all copper and amber.......
