Winter........R.Southey.

Though now no more the musing ear
Delights to listen to the breeze,
That lingers o'er the greenwood shade,
I love thee, winter, well.

The green moss shines with icy glare
The long grass bends its spear-like form
And lovely is the silvery scene,
When faint the sunbeams smile.

Stay warm and have a lovely weekend..............

I have recently come across your blog and just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the poem and beautiful photos. It's amazing what an effect a layer of frost has on plants.

Lovely, Cheryl! Winter has its own beauty, and you've captured it so well in these amazing photos. I hope you stay warm this weekend--we're in for an "Arctic blast" according to the weatherman by the middle of next week. I won't be going outside for photos then:)

Cheryl, what a delightful poem. Your photos are the perfect illustration for it! Looks like winter has really come to you.

The sun is shinning here today and it's a littlke warmer. The calm before the storm.. we are expecting a little snow and very cold temps next week. Ugh!

I've got the winter doldrums. :} No energy and no ambition. Just want to sit in my chair with a blanket. I've even cut back on my blog reading to just a few favs. Poor me!! :} :} Don't worry, I will be fine in a few days. I'm just indulging myself in a little self pity. Something I do very well!

Take care dear and stay warm.

Hi Rose......the weather here has been so cold....for nearly a fortnight we have had this artic blast, and I do not like it. The temperatures have gone way below the norm for this time of year.....

Stay warm Rose......

Hi Beckie.....It is so cold here I cannot tell you.....I did clean the birdfeeders today....the ground is frozen solid and the air is moist and cold.....bbrrrrrr.....

Winter doldrums....if you need to indulge yourself Beckie, then go ahead.......sometimes that is just what we need......
I am honoured that you dropped by.....I would invite you in for tea and cake and a chat, that would perhaps lift your spirits a little.....we could always pretend........I believe coffee is your preference, sugar??

Have a lovely weekend......

Hi Cheryl, We are to get the Arctic blast next week. I will be out enjoying the weekend for sure because I will probably be housebound for a few days.

These photos are so beautiful and your poem is perfect with them.

Which came first? The poem or the photos?? Simply beautiful in any order.

To be honest Lisa you can have the icy blast....I have really had enough of it....it is just too cold....

The photographs came first and I happened to be looking at a book with that prose in and I like it.....

Enjoy your milder weekend.....

Thank you Wendy......it is hard to know what to post at this time.....winter does have a charm but how many photographs can you take?

Hi there Cheryl :-)

It is wonderful you can see such beauty in the garden when I am guessing you’d rather not be out there at the moment. Wishing you warmer temps soon :-D

My garden is very green and mossy looking this morning. The skies are dark and the wind is picking up – quite a different scene from yours. I am considering going out there to do very late bulb planting. I’ll need a good fitting hat and scarf :-D

Lovely images, lovely prose and lovely post. Have a ‘lovely’ weekend :-D

I very much enjoy your blog. The words, the pictures, the way you write.

I am sorry to hear about your (ex) depression and so pleased you've recovered. My mom had it very bad (together with some other problems) and was on medication for a long time, and she hated it, but needd it (esp for the other problems).

I also had depression at one stage about 5-6 years ago, and it took me 12-18 months to get off it without medication and with my hubbies's love and support.

So I know where you're coming from and I can understand the success you've made..Well done. I'm sure your garden and wildlife will help you forward..and we'll keep reading

LG
