Art.......

You do not have to be an artist to paint or draw.......
just as you do not need to be a writer to write.

Within all of us is a deep sense of creativity,

a desire to express what we see......

and feel in ways other than words......
I think of gardening as an art form.......
a way to show my personality......
With each season the landscapes changes.....
and beautiful people add another dimension.......
How do you view your garden? AND please tell me Gail is this PPPP

Dear Cheryl,
I agree! Gardening is an Art and you are an artist! Each moment is different in the garden.
Poppi adds the magic!
Beautiful!

Dear Sherry....thank you...

I love to see the changing seasons in the garden. Also by adding plants and removing them you can change the scene.....

A garden is a magical place.....

Monet once said if it weren't for the garden, he may not have become a painter! I think of my garden as a sanctuary and an ecosytem; something alive. To me, garden is more verb than noun! P.S. I was wondering, if Poppi her real name or a shortening of Poppet? :) So cute and obviously interested in the garden.

A beautiful post Cheryl. It not only shows your beautiful personality it shows your heart.

Cheryl said...

Hi Monica......it is Poppi....my daughter just wanted to spell it differently to the flower....

I agree, there must be life in the garden.....without that it would be so sad......

Cheryl said...

Lisa....you are so very kind and where have you been??

Cheryl,
Art is in everything, light changes it by the second. That is why art and the outdoors go so well together. Lovely post and very creative photos.

Cheryl, you are a fine artist and capture nature's beauty in a special way on your camera. And your granddaughter is just an exceptional artist's model.

A lovely post which shows your garden is truly as pretty as a picture and dear little Poppi adds to the enchantment.

Like a breath of fresh air. So it is when I visit your garden, especially when Poppi is there as well. Just lovely.

Oh Cheryl, I absolutely LOVE your garden! It is SO beautiful! As are you. And Poppi....she is such a delight! I love the energy that emanates from her even in a photo!

Cheryl said...

Thank you Randy......what you say is so right....light is so important.......

Cheryl said...

Tku Ruth....that is so kind...

I think Poppi is a fine artist's model but then I am her grandmother, so I am bound to say that......

Cheryl said...

Thank you Jan....I cannot keep up with the garden at the moment...I seems to have a lot of growth this year...to be honest a bit too much!!

Cheryl said...

Thank you Cyndee....you are kindness itself....
Poppi has a gift, to bring joy to others......

I so agree, Cheryl! I cannot draw or paint, and often my craft projects look very amateurish. But the garden is my canvas and one way I can express my creativity. And it is one more thing I can share with my grandchildren.

I love the way Gail's PPPP has achieved Blogland fame:)

Cheryl said...

Hi Rose....it is good to know that there is someone out there that thinks along the same lines....
it is wonderful how we can change our artwork by adding different plants and removing some maybe...

With regard to PPPP....I have been searching for one at the garden centres, alas to no avail.....but this plant appeared in one of my beds a few weeks ago and I think it looks remarkably like PPPP....I just need Gail to say yes or no!!!

Gail said...

Dear Cheryl...You've written a wise post. It would be a wonderful gift if we could all look at our gardens, our creations, our art with loving eyes instead of critical or judgmental ones! I am working on that every day!

I can't say for sure! I want it to be PPPP! It certainly looks like a phlox... Are the leaves narrow and for the most part opposite? Is there a bit of hairiness to the stems? We must get you some...I checked at the post office! It takes too long to ship...the babies would be dead! Gail

Cheryl said...

Hi Gail.....I will take some more photographs to show you more detail....I am sure it is a phlox to, have looked in my books but cannot find this one......

You are so kind to check at the post office...a very sweet thought.....

Hi Cheryl! I've taken to looking at my flower gardens and seeing the beauty that is in them at any given moment and to ignore the imperfections. In the past I think I tended to miss some of the beauty when I was caught up in fixing things. There is beauty everywhere if we just have ours eyes open and are ready to see it! :0)

You are indeed an artist, Cheryl! Your garden constantly amazes me with it's beauty. I know that all comes from the talent you have to see how it will look. I don't have that and end up with plants...well not where they look their best.

I do have special people in my garden that add so much to it. The garndgirls were here this past weekend and although it was too wet to plant, we enjoyed walking in the gardens.

Poppi will have your eye, I am sure. She seems so serious when she is looking at the gardens. You can almost hear her thinking about what to plant next.

Have a great weekend and I hope your weather stays good.

PS-lloks like PPPP to me. :)

What a wonderful interpretation. Art in the garden. I would have thought creativity, fun, learning, tranquillity, joy, magic, but wouldn't have thought art. I love this post. You express yourself so well, both in words and pics. I feel calm when I come here. Thank you for that.

Poppi looks like she is growing up, as children are meant to do. It's wonderful to watch, but there is a little flip-flop to the heart.

Dear Cheryl, I agree that gardening is an art form. It is an extension of ourselves and our place in the world. My garden is my sanctuary, I always feel closest to God when I am in it. I always breath easier when I am out in the garden listening to life all around me. I feel such a deep connection to the earth and all the living things around me--it's magical--a mystery, and yet it grounds me.

Poppi looks like a little pink princess, or your gardening fairy. So sweet.

Cheryl said...

Terry....I do so agree with you. I have never been a perfectionist....it is hard work and for me does not feel right......
A garden, I believe should be about peace tranquility, enjoyment and a way to express ourselves.....

Cheryl said...

Dear Beckie.....I am sure your garden is lovely...if it reflects your colourful personality, I know, it will be a joy.....

I am sure the grands love being in the garden with you....I am sure, that you will make it fun and that is what life should be about....

I thought it was PPPP but Gail is not sure, so........

Cheryl said...

Hi Wendy......thank you.....I agree with you....gardens are all things to all people....

I just looked at it the other day, and thought that it does reflect my personality.....I think gardens do reflect the personality of the owner and that is delightful....

Yes Poppi is growing up quickly.....my little grandson is a proper little man....my heart does skip a beat sometimes but I take life a day at a time......cherish the moment......if we do not we miss so much.......

Hi Cheryl. I hope you are well, and I am so sorry that I have not been about much of late but work has taken over yet again so something had to give for a while!!! It took a huge effort to even get anything on my blog.

It was like a breath of fresh air coming back here, and your photos have lifted me and given me a great start to the day. Dear Poppi would add magic to any garden for sure, and how beautiful that child is, inside and out. Bless her and Riley and Mich, and I hope that everyone is ok.

I agree entirely re your gardnen being an art form, and you have that special touch with yours that makes it special. There are gardens and then there are gardens, and looking at your pics always makes me want to go there and enjoy the peace and tranquility that it just oozes. You are a very special lady with a very precisou gift Cheryl xxxx

How true is all that you write, dear Cheryl :)

I do believe we express ourselves in our gardens...and in our homes too. they both speak voloumes about us.

In my house anyone could see that I love wood, wildlife, flowers, family photos around me, colour and that i do watercolour paintings :)

My sister tells me that I paint with my flowers. i know for sure that this garden is my biggest creation :)

Poppi enhances all you do. You manage to capture her in her own world...not those posey kind of photos, but an innocent child enjoying exploring the wonders of Nature :)

Your garden tells me you like soul and romance in your garden... and solitude... and that you have created a paradise for wildlife... and colour matters...and peace and serenity...all that reflected in your personality too :)

Cheryl said...

Hi Morning GLories.......I so agree with all that you say....I to need to find peace in my garden and I am sure that my connection with this wonderful planet of ours keeps me calm and at one with myself....
To see God's creatures come to visit makes me feel quite humble......

Cheryl said...

Hi Dawny....no worries, all bloggers seems to be very busy at the moment.....summer is a busy season, that is for sure....don't work too hard..all work and no play!!

Thank you for your kind comments....you know that I love my garden, I have always found it keeps me in touch with what is important.....and real...

We are all well at the moment, hope that you are all okay......

Cheryl said...

Dear Wildlife Gardener....your words are kindness itself and thank you for the sweet things you say.....

I am a born romantic....I have never mentioned that, so you did so well to see that in me.....I also thrive on peace and serenity, I could not cope without it...

Poppi is a natural....I like to photograph her as she plays in the garden....I try to hide so that she does not see me and play up to the camera. She is so in touch with this beautiful planet of ours, and I thank God for that....may the outside world always bring her the peace it has given me.......

Thank you so much for dropping by, always a pleasure......

For most...I think a garden is just something pretty to look at.
For us...it represents an extension of our love.
