Safari Sunday.......

It is pleasantly warm today..........
The swallows have been hunting over the garden........

The sunshine has brought the bugs out........

some were hiding.......and perhaps a little camera shy!

Red damselflies would not sit long enough for me to take a decent photograph......
This little chap got caught in the act....taking the nuts from the bird feeders......
I am not very happy with him at the moment....he has taken the eggs from the robins nest..........
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday........

Hi Cheryl, I always enjoy your insect photos! Apparently a lot of bugs like to chew from the underside of the leaf... I guess so you don't catch them.

Peanuts are one thing...bird eggs are quite another! Lovely pictures of the garden and insects.

Your garden looks beautiful Cheryl. I love it when you give us overviews. Of course all of the garden denziens are cute as can be. I take exception to the squirrel. They do so much damage. It is good that they have cuteness going for them or I would take to eating squirrel for sunday dinner.

Hi Monica......thank you for that, I did not realise.......I will look underneath on my next safari or lie on the ground .....perhaps not I may not be able to get up...lol

Hi ncmountainwoman....I totally agree....the squirrel can have as many peanuts as he likes......but NOT bird eggs......

Hi Lisa......In top restaurants in the UK you will sometimes find squirrel on the menu. Not for me, but I have read there are many who really enjoy it......

Hi Cheryl
Isn't it amazing just how much wildlife you can see in your own garden? Great pics as usual. Always a pleasure to visit. xx

Such a beautiful blue sky behind the swallow. Don't you love days like that? Bad squirrel, bad, bad! Why would they take eggs?? I love the bugs, they look very busy. What are the wonderful white flowers behind the squirrel? So gorgeous! Hope you have a great garden week. :)

I am having hot tea and wrapped in my blamket...brr...
ALways nice to see your birds too.
Squirrels do much damage in my backyard too...very sad about the Robin's eggs...

I didn't know squirrels would take eggs from a nest. We have too many squirrels raiding our bird feeders right now. My husband is considering getting a trap and releasing some them in the woods outside the city.

I didn't know squirrels would take birds eggs either! Those naughty creatures. I found a groundhog sitting as boldly as you please on my back deck. When I went out to chase it away, I noticed it had eaten one of my best dahlias! One I had overwintered indoors by saving the tuber (or corm, I never know which).

I love your damselfly! It's so pretty. I'm glad you had a warm, lovely day. It's cold here.
Hugs

Hi Cyndee......thank you, such a lovely thought......

Hi Gail.....I made the most of yesterday....we have a strong north easterly wind this morning....rain is expected all week......

Cheryl said...

Dear Sherry....we have a cold NE wind this morning.....heavy rain is expected for the rest of the week.......no doubt there will be damage to the gardens.....

I do hope the sun shines for you soon......we all need to feel a little warmth on the back of our necks I think......

Dear Beckie....the squirrel is very bad....they eat the eggs.....they often raid nests unfortunately.....

The white flowers are hawthorn blossom....my garden is full of it.....fortunately I do not mind the smell....I know it is offensive to some......

Hope you are well and that life is treating you kindly......

Cheryl said...

Hi Ruth.....I think that is a good idea.......to many squirrels is definately not good for birds.....

Cheryl said...

Hi Wendy....I so understand....the rabbits have eaten four or five or my overwintered dahlias...grrrrr!! What are groundhogs?
They are tubers by the way....not that it matters I knew what you meant.....We are getting wetter and colder this week....hope you soon warm up, think of that Florida sunshine.....

A lovely post again Cheryl with delightful photos, but what a bad Squirrel! Poor little Robins, I hope they try again and have more success. I have heard some Crows and Magpies around so suspect they are raiding nests. Lovely to see the Swallow.

I use to be bothered by bees when I was trying to garden, my mother was very allergic and I have never been stung, so I carried a little fear. I love to garden more then anything so I just decided to make peace with the bees! Now I just enjoy watching them and thank them for all that they do for us, my gratitude erased my fear. Your pictures and tour were lovely, back to the garden~Jacque

I hope that naughty squirrel finds another place to feed from soon! We had a beautiful Sunday, too, and since it was Mother's Day here in the US, it was a good day for spending time with family and geting a little gardening done. I know the UK celebrates this holiday earlier, but I think it's all right to have more than one Mother's Day--I hope yours was a good one, Cheryl.

Cheryl, the photo of the damselfly was amazing. What a colorful little creature! But, what a naughty squirrel. I think I need to send Bocephus and Chrissy to chase them all away! Chrissy has an ongoing battle with a squirrel in our garden. It knows better than to come into the garden, but will sit on the fence and taunt the dogs. Chrissy tries to climb the fence to get to it.

How did your garden survive those two windy days?
Some of my tall aquilegias have been snapped.
I have not been to new veg garden in Sissinghurst castle but it's matter of days (have to find a free day)before I go and see it. Actually my son's class is going to visit it next week. I think they are keen to involve children from neighbouring communities.

Oh no, the eggs from the robin's nest! I didn't know squirrels did that. Awful!

Thanks for sharing the safari...I might have to go and see what is moving in our garden. Squirrels can be little buggers - they tease the dogs.
