Sunday safari....dragonfly.......

I sat in the copse this morning enjoying the warmth of a late spring day. She caught my eye as she flew in to join me. At first I thought it was a hornet because of the striking colour.
But no......it was my first dragonfly of 2009....Libellula depressa. So beautiful, she stayed with me for a while.

My mind drifted........and thoughts went to a friend across the pond......

This post is just for you dear Beckie........

What a beauty your first Dragonfly of the season was! I know what you mean...everytime I see a Dragonfly, I think of Beckie, and what it means to her.

Beautiful photos, Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, I can see where you would have thought at first that Libellula was a hornet, with its body color and its very sheer, shimmery wings. Love the photos, and I also thought of Beckie!

What a beautiful dragonfly, Cheryl; I've never seen one like it before. How sweet of you to think of Beckie--she's gone this weekend, but I know she will appreciate it when she sees it. Wishing you a wonderful week full of bees and butterflies!

Hi Monica......she was hunting in the copse.....and looked just like a hornet buzzing around, it wasn't until she settled that I realised she was a dragon....

Hi Rose.....she is lovely, isn't she. I have never seen this species in the garden before, so it was a delightful surprise as you can imagine.

Dragonflies will always bring Beckie to my mind......

Thank you....wishing you sunny days and lots of nice buzzy things......

What a lovely creature Cheryl, I don't think I have ever seen that one.

Hi Cheryl, Beckie will love seeing this dragonfly. She is visiting this weekend. How do I know this?? She and S stopped here on the way to her destination. It was great seeing her. Haven't laid eyes on her for some time.

I will have to get tout to see what is going on in my garden today since Beckie isn't home to play with you.

A wonderful dragonfly with a gold color. I have seen a couple dragonflies overhead, but I have not caught one resting in the garden yet. I think they will have plenty of prey very soon.
