Little Bee........

A small bee was caught in a spider's web..........I carefully removed her and placed her on a flower.
I watched her through my camera lens......

as she removed every thread of silk from her little body. Then she flew away...........

Cheryl, you really have a gift! Who else would have been able to capture that little bee pulling the spider's web off her leg? That's a sight most of us will never see in our lifetimes!
Thank you for sharing. I'm sure that little bee was so grateful.

Always a good feeling to save a life, even a tiny one. Art

I meant to add, I have a habit of rescuing earthworms that have gone into the street where they face certain death from not being able to climb over the curbs to get back to land. I always pick them up and put them back on soil when I see them.

Dear Cheryl, you are a girl after my own heart...so much of what you write resonates with me.

I am so glad you have had rain this past month and that you garden is looking the better for it...and such green grass.

My hubbie does not have a passion for gardening either, and, like yours, also thinks I am obsessed about mine. He did not garden as a child, and I feel there's a lot in that, as children look to their parents for role-modelling. I have immersed our boys in the natural world...and it has rubbed off on them I am glad to say.

Although I am an artist... watercolour, silk painting, pastels, drawing...like you, my writing always changes too... I love the book you have started.

I love all your photos so much I spend time enlarging each and every one...hats off to your skill as a photographer.

The...
One Lovely blog Award...which I nominated you for is richly deserved by you for all your sharing and love.

It sits at the top right-hand corner of my blog...click on it and save it to a file and upload it on yours :)

I know the spider has to eat, but not the bee! Thank you for letting him fly another day.

Dear Cheryl,

What a sweet story with a happy ending--my favorite. It is a very good day when you feel like you have made a difference.

Do you get tired of hearing how amazing your photos are? I can't help but repeat it every time I visit you! What an amazing sight to see that little Bee cleaning herself!

I'm sure this little bee appreciated her guardian angel, Cheryl. That last picture was amazing when I enlarged it; I didn't realize spiders would eat bees.

Hi Liz.....I had a crab spider in the garden in the summer and it took a bumble. I would not have believed it had I not seen it.....

Thank you Wendy....I am grateful for your lovely comment....

Hi Art....believe me you are not alone. I have done that many times It is a pleasure to know that someone else cares.......

Dear Wildelife Gardener.....thank you for your lovely comment.

I do agree, our childhood plays such an important part in our adult years. I spent much time gardening with my father and my Gramps. Also visiting wild areas with my Dad......I learnt to understand and appreciate nature. To care and respect for the world that we live in. I have my parents to thank for that.
My husband lived with practical people....hence he is a practical man.

I feel fortunate and blessed that I see things as I do.....

Monica, you are just so funny.
I shall close my bedroom window tonight....only teasing, I like spiders and there was plenty of other food in their web, they did not need the bee......

Hi Morning Glories......tku for your very sweet comment. I do not tire of the compliment, for me, it is a joy to know that others are enjoying my photography.
I have struggled with my camera, but this last month I feel we understand each other......it has been a long time coming.

I could not leave the bee....I had to go back and take him from the web. The web was full of flies etc, so the spider would not have gone hungry......

Hi Rose.....you may remember in the summer I showed a crab spider catching a bumble bee........so yes they do take bees......

You saved a bee? Only you Cheryl.
It's a good thing you did.

Beautiful photos and a very beautiful thing you did for the bee Cheryl but how did you rescue her without being stung?

Dear Cheryl,
Oh my goodness how amazing! You are a bee saver.
Sweet bee and sweet you!
Little bee will bless you forever.
I too send my blessings.
Namaste,
Sherry

That was kind of you. Of course she doesn't know, but we do.

So cold and wet here, no bees in sight. Still hoping for an Indian summer and a few warm, sunny days.

Hi Jan.......I gently pulled the web surrounding her away. I then had her attached to my fingers via the small piece of web. I put her on the bloom and gently pulled away some of the silk but I could not remove it all. I left her to do the rest. I have done this many times, but I would not recommend it.
The spider had plenty prey in her web, she did not need the bee. I could not leave it there......

What an awesome chance in a lifetime to see something like that! Cool beans! Oh, I just saw that you said you've done this before. Wow! I don't think I've ever seen a bee in a spider web. If I do, I'll try to take it out.
