Riley's radish and more.....

Mr. P popped into my daughters yesterday afternoon on his way home from work. As soon as he came in he presented me with a gift from Riley. A beautiful perfect little radish. He had grown this little gem in gardening class at school. I was so proud of my little five year old grandson. I carefully washed and chopped the little veg and placed it on top of my salad. Do you know, that was the best radish I have ever tasted.
The afternoon before my daughter and the grandchildren had joined us for tea. We were discussing the demise of the bees. My daughter looked at her child and said "What do you think would happen Riley, it we had no bees." He said without little thought "The world would turn grey Mummy".........
Riley, dear child, the world will never be grey with you in it.......my garden will never be grey..... Nanna took these photograph's today for you. The brightest flowers, all with bees......no grey here.......
I am truly blessed with both my grandchildren....their mother is bringing them up as kind, caring
little people, who will grow into the sort of people, we would all like to have living next door. Well done my child, I am proud of you all.....................

Cheryl, sounds like Riley is a whole lot like his grandma. It does do your heart good to know they are growing up to be caring children. I'm sure your daughter is doing a great job with them-but look who raised her! Your pictures amaze me. Such pretty flowers and the bees are loving them. Of course we want the seed. I am waiting for flowers to set on the seed you sent this spring. I plan to do a post on them.(the plants are looking good) Enjoy your weekend!

what a lovely post.. definitely 'out of the mouths of babes', and all that!

have missed my visits! am up to my eyeballs getting ready for a craft show next weekend, so not around in blog-land as much as I'd like. I just love that header shot :-)

Lisa stole my quote, LOL.

All these bees--wonderful photos.
I'm sure Riley has learned so much from his caring Nanna as well.

By the way, I thought glow worms and fireflies were the same thing. Apparently, they are in the same family, but there are different varieties. Do your glow worms fly?

Hi Beckie.....I am looking forward to your photographs of the seeds I sent. None of the poppies I sent you, have bloomed 'true' this year. So I hope yours are doing well.
I will do a nice little parcel of all sorts of seed for you and Rose, so that you can have a play next year. I will give you seeds that are guaranteed to grow.

Best wishes always. xx

Hi Rose.....the femail does not fly, only the male can. He will see the light shining from 10 yards away, then make his approach....I leave the rest to your imagination!!!!!

Thank you for your lovely comments.

What a wise old soul Riley must be! They say we choose our parents ane he has obviously chosen his Nanna well. What a grey old world it would be without bees. xx

You are truly blessed, Cheryl. Out of the mouth of babes - what a good answer Riley gave you. He's right, you know. If the bees go then so do all the flowers, fruit and vegs.

Oh, and I'm sure that radish was absolutely delicious, especially since it was grown with love.

Your photos are beautiful, as always.

And this is what we must strive to do. Raise our children like your daughter is...too be gentle and to appreciate the beauty right under our noses. To treat nature with respect. It's the only way to a better world.

Lovely, Cheryl.

You are so right Mary....blogging has made me realise there are a lot of wonderful people out there. We are all doing our bit to make this world a better place, it gives me much hope.

What a lovely posting... it's a shame that not more children have the input of someone like you to encourage them along the way... since we've been in France I'm convinced that violence in the UK amongst chidren/young teens has increased - some of the stories filling the news are truly awful.

Your story about Riley is lovely and children have such an amazing perspective on things that us grownups could actually learn a thing or two from them at times!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend... Miranda

Hi Miranda....I think what you say is true...I have seen a big change, especially in the bit cities. We moved here to get away from that environment, not everybody has that chance. But lets not forget, there are a lot of good youngsters out there because they have parents who care.
I think the french lifestyle is one I could fit into quite easily....I am sure you have found your niche and I am pleased for you.

Riley and Poppi are caring little people and love the garden and wildlife.

Hope the sun is shining on you....

Thank you Leanne, glad you enjoyed it.

oh bless Riley for that xxx Mich is obviously doing a wonderful job isn't she - it is true nurturing. Shame there are not more mummies like her xxx And where do you think Mich got all her skills from? If you look in a mirror Cheryl, you will see xxxxxx You are one of the nicest families I 'know' xxxx

Hi Dawny....I think family are so important, and being a good human being is also top of my list. We as a family are always there for one and other, through good times and bad.
I know to, that those close to you, are so important and if you and I were nieghbours we would get on well......some things you just know, don't you.
Michelle is a wonderful Mum, she has her own personal health issues but she copes well. She knows that she only has to look over her shoulder and I will be there.
Tks for dropping by....its good to have blogging friends who care about the same issues in life....
