Solitude..........Byron

There is Pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a Rapture on the lonely shore,
There is Society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne're express, yet cannot all conceal.

I love this poem and I think better than any other, it describes me and how I feel about nature and all she freely bestows on us all.

How absolutely wonderful! Is that a turtle between the rabbits? Byron has said what some feel all the time and all of us feel some of the time. Thank you for sharing this with us.

I can see why you love this poem. Nature does share so much with us and it is impossible for one to put into words how it makes us feel.

Hi Beckie...do you know why I like you so much....because you make me smile. No it isn't a turtle its a carved wooden toadstool....I wish it was a turtle but we don't have them here!!
Byron had a wonderful way with words, he is another poet that I enjoy.

I had forgotten these lines; I never taught much Byron, so I don't remember his poetry as well. But this one is very thought-provoking; I can see why they mean so much to you.

Since Beckie asked about the "turtle," I'll ask about the rabbits--they look real, are they? I had one just like that sitting in my vegetable garden last night. I sent Coco, the dog, after him, who promptly chased off some birds instead.

Oh yes Rose the rabbits are most definately real.....they are ALWAYS in my garden......but Nella, my terrier does see them off. She is not interested in birds, just the rabbits and the rats....so she earns her keep very well.

That photograph was taken in my kitchen through double glazing.....and the rabbits were right at the other end of the garden....so it actually wasn't a bad shot,,,,turtle and all. lol

Dear Cheryl,
Byron has a way of saying what is in my heart. I connect with the sky and the soil and the critters that fly and crawl. I sleep the best after a day in the garden.
Thank you.
Sherry
