New camera.......

"Would you like a new camera?"
"No thank you."
"Your camera is really out of date....you can do a lot more with the new ones."
"I know."

"Shall I get one then."

"No thank you."

This is the conversation Mr. P and I had several months ago. Two days after that chat he brought home a new camera.......
It sat on the kitchen table in its brand new shiny box.....I took it out...eeekkkk, how many buttons and dials can you have on a camera.......picked up instructions, double eeeeekkkkk......I need a degree to understand that. Quick put it back in the box, into a cupboard, and try to forget its there.........

Several months down the line and feeling guilty I got it out of the box.......
I had spoken to Sherry at Q's Corner about it and she said just go out into your garden and play with it, try it out........

The small copper came today and is for you Sherry by way of a thank you........
I have been uploading photographs for the last two weeks............I do not use the instructions.......I am learning my way.........

Mr P is so kind to give me such a lovely gift.........he has been watching me use it..............he never made an issue of it........I think he knows me better than I know myself.......
I am beginning to love my new camera...........

Cheryl,

I'm glad you let us know about the new camera. I noticed the changes in the photographs. As a matter of fact GG and I were just discussing it last evening when I showed her your post about the spider web.

The photo's are great. I'm sure you are loving the new camera. I know how you fell about all the buttons and dials though. I don't know if I will ever become completely comfortable with all the features on my modest little camera. I just try to figure mine out little by little through experimentation.

Gorgeous photos--very nice Mr. P!

It's the opposite at our house. My DH just hands me the instructions to whatever, and asks me how to work it.

Cheryl, You have been using this new camera for several weeks, haven't you? I thought I remembered you mentioning it before, and at the time I noticed how amazing your photos were. I am like you--I don't like to have to read all the instructions to figure out how everything works. Experimenting with it to see what it can do sounds like the best approach. And your "experimental" photos look great:)

I am glad you are beginning to enjoy it. What a thoughtful gift.

Isn't that the way? A brand-new "toy" and it sits in it's box until we are ready to learn how to use it. I know just how you feel.

And I think it's better to do just what you are doing - learn by doing it yourself. Manuals can be so difficult to decipher.

Your pics are lovely. Hats off to Mr. P. - what a guy!

So what camera did you get? The closeups are beautiful.

and you should love your new camera with good reason---fantastic photos!!!!!!!!mr. p loves you! how nice. i love photographing but not so much the technology. i resisted a digital camera for so long but it is so convenient. i have several now and love the fact you just take your memory card and plug it into the computer. it is still challenging though. cpngrats on just jumping in and trying it.

I know you love that Mr P too. Giving you a camera he knew you would end up using a lot and loving every minute of it. Your photos are gorgeous.

I am a lot like that when it comes to learning new equipment or computer programs. UGH... Worth the effort here though.

It takes some great pics too. Funny how we stick to our old favourites until we are ready to change!

Cheryl, Mr. P does know you. How sweet of him to get it for you and then let you go at your own pace. Why are we so resistant to new? The pictures are stunning-works of art. I love seeing things through your eyes.

Dear Cheryl,
Oh my goodness!! Thank you for the lovely Copper Butterfly. She is so very beautiful! So lovely....
The colors of the changing leaves blend splendidly with her.
Such a sweet picture. Thank you.
I am so pleased you are relaxing and enjoying your new camera. No worries, no pressure to learn anything at all, just point and shoot. Someday if you want to do a little different you can. The camera is here to serve you....LOL...I have enjoyed teaching my camera to see what I see.
Mr. P is a darling...he does jnow you.
All your pictures show your sensitivity to Mother Nature and her beauty.
Thank you again for honoring me.
Namaste,
Sherry

Dear Sherry....I knew you would love the little copper butterfly....she is so very pretty and we do not see so many now....I was honoured she visited and it seemed fitting to post her for you......
I am trying to persevere with the camera......it feels quite alien at times....others is feels as though we are one......

Hi again Cheryl :-)

I had been admiring your recent photos too! I too was treated with a camera (for my birthday) a few months after I started my blog. Guess what camera I was treated to by my husband? Yep... the very same :-D

I mostly use a zoom lens on mine now but love it! Once you get past the initial point and shoot and are brave enough to turn a few dials you will have fun with it - I promise really you will! Enjoy yours :-D

I am in no way an expert with mine but if you ever want to ask me about this camera just mail me and I will try to help. Lol I have found it is pretty much like a washing machine - you have your favourite settings and stick to them ;-D
