Time to think...............

My day always begins with a walk around the garden..............
I need this time to get my mind focused for the day ahead...........

I take time to notice the little things...............

which often hold much beauty..................

For me it is a time for reflection and quiet contemplation...........
How do you start your day?

"Tup Mumma! Tup! Gharnnnn, Noonooo tup tup!"

That's how I start my day, 5.30am every day!

Gotta love 2 year olds, right ;)

I start my day being woken by the Dawn Chorus, or rather the Kyla chorus, which in our house is a certain little lady yelling at full throttle for us to wake up!!!! Honestly Cheryl, she is like a fishwife!!! To be fair, I am always awake and I have to get up straight away once my eyes are open - I cannot just lie there. Then I always have a look out into the garden and also up the lane. I do this every morning and also every night. It sort of reassures me I think that all is well. I have to say that I love your blog header. To me it is all things autumnal and I think it is really beautiful xxxx

My mornings vary. I have a cup of tea while reading a few blogs. I head out to the garden for a walk about with Luna. Then I get going with what needs to be done.

Depends on whether it's the weekend or weekday...

Weekend: Wake up, dressing gown on, downstairs to watch the birds, get a cuppa, check the net, look at the garden (if it's summer I go around the garden, not this time of year though!)

Weekday: Wake up, shower, get ready, downstairs, check birdies and watch them until I leave. (in the summer have a morning/evening slug patrol)

Thanks Ruth....enjoy your day......

Hi Crone.....there is nothing in the world like being woken up by a two year old.......it will make you smile when you are my age......

How funny Dawny.....that took me back to Michelle when she was little......it is a bit of a jolt isn't it?

I look out of my bedroom window last thing at night.....I listen for the owls and other creatures that may be around.....

Tks re header....an unexpected photograph that turned out well.....

Such beautiful sights to contemplate on! I can see you strolling about your gardens, cup of tea in hand and dog by your side. Checking to see that all is well in your piece of heaven.

Conratulations on your well deserved awards!

My day usually starts with a cup or 3 of coffee and visiting with friends like you. Don't plan too much work while you are out and about. :)

Sounds nice and relaxed Lisa.....

Hi Liz.....yuk slug patrol......I leave that to the thrush and hedgehogs.......

Cheryl said...

Hi Beckie.....I always need that time in the morning to think about things that need doind or who needs helping....sometimes my brain feels scrambled but a long stroll around the garden works wonders for me........

Three cups of coffee, now that is a wake up call.......

Hope things are improving for you........

I am not a morning person, so morning finds me cuddled in a big chair with my mug of coffee. No conversation, no television, just me and the birds for at least 15 minutes.

Cheryl, Congratulations on your awards - you certainly deserve them.
You posts and pix are so beautiful and I enjoy seeing them very much.
I start my morning late (as I am not much of a morning person); I start by thanking the Lord for another day; I try to always sing the verse, "This is the day that the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it". I get my cup of coffee and then comes first; I feed my two fussy four-legged children (Poms)& give my old one (16,1/2) her heart & thyroid pills, (I eat breakfast) and then I'm ready to do whatever work the day brings forth.
Bless you, Graceanne :)

Cheryl, I usually start with a cup of tea and read some blogs while my body "thaws" out. Then I put on coffee--to really wake up!--and head outside to check out the gardens. I will miss this in the wintertime--much too cold often to stray too far from the house.

By the way, I just finished reading Gail's latest post at clayandlimestone.blogspot.com. I think you would really enjoy her post today, Cheryl.

mountainmusings....my brother could relate to your comment....he is not a morning person either.....

Cheryl, I think we are similar in our approaches to nature and the garden! What a wonderful gift that you came to see me on a recommendation from Rose. She and Beckie are two of my favorite very nice people and bloggers!

I fill up the kettle and sit down to read the news..have my coffee and toast and read the blogs! I do go out once the sun is up to see if the bees are about. The bumbles show up early! My camera at the ready!

I enjoyed the quiet walk around your garden today, especially the pretty leaf with the spiral of stones underneath.
My morning starts with coffee. If it's nice outside, I take my cup and say hello to my plants. I greet the morning sun, the sky and the earth. I sit in silence, breathing in the fresh air.

In winter I feel closed in, but take my cup of coffee to a comfortable chair by the window, where I sit in silence or write my "morning pages". Hubby reads the newspaper and tries not to interrupt.

Lovely post Cheryl! Well, I used to start my day like you do but not anymore. Now I mostly run after little Tara in my house and garden. She's a bit of a handful at the mo but very sweet with it.

All the simple things...beautiful pics.
My day starts with coffee and no conversation. Work strange loosey hours so I'm slow to wake.

Cheryl said...

Hi Yolanda.......Little Tara will be worth all this effort.....I remember the days of puppy training.......they can be tiring to say the least.......but a dog is a wonderful companion....and a friend for life....enjoy......

Dear Cheryl,
I can almost feel the cool morning air as I walk with you in your garden. A lovely way to start the day. I begin each day when I awake with a prayer of gratitude. I raise my shades in the bedroom and I set my intention for the day.
In my slippers and robe I come to the kitchen and pour a cup of coffee from the caraffe. My husband always leaves me a couple of cups. I take my coffee and my blanket to the deck. I sit snuggled up and watch the sun rise and the birds coming at first light to the feeders. I sit alone (without the camera). If it is rainy I sit by my back windows. I sit in silence. I sit in awe. I sit in gratitude.
Thank you for letting me share my morning ritual.
Namaste,
Sherry

hey cheryl, i've been busy visiting with my sis so no time for blogging but i sit here in the silence of the night wishing i had more time. lovely post!
i want to be a morning person but alas am not so i take a while to get going. as we enter into cooler and some frosty mornings i am enjoying my coffee first thing that my dh makes and sitting by the fire. after i like to read a few posts and then read my daily devotion to get me on the right thought track. after which everyday seems to hand me a different task or undertaking.
