Spring Magic....Bzzzzz

My day started with this belated birthday present. The beautiful notelets are all hand crafted and coloured by the talented Dawny P. They are just so beautiful....the detail is exquisite. I also received a packet of Poppy seeds and a lovely handcrafted bee. Unfortunately 'little bee' lost a leg during transit and will spend the night in the bee hospital, where Mr P will carefully mend him......Thank you so much Dawny ..........I love love love them......
The weather has warmed up today. I decided I would work in the garden this afternoon. There is so much to do at this time of year. My camera came with me, and one of the first things I noticed was the bug on this bloom....enlarge if you cannot see it.....he is tiny but he is there, honest.......

But this is what I was really looking for. I knew the warm weather would bring out my beloved bees......against the cherry blossom they look so pretty.......

I sat underneath the tree listening to them........
I walked on to the woodland walk and there to my amazement was a carder bee....this lovely little bee is not as common as it used to be. I am so pleased to see them in the garden.......
I watched her for ages, enjoying herself amongst the hellebores...........I sat in daydream mode......an easy thing for me........I do daydreaming very well........
I leave you with the last verse of Spring Magic by Cicely Mary Barker.......
The world is very old;
But every Spring
It groweth young again,
And fairies sing.
Are you singing with the fairies......I am.......

I can't wait to sing with fairies too! The snow is not yet gone but it's on its way. Soon the flowers will appear and bees will come for nectar buzzing.

Dear Cheryl,
I am as busy as a bee today. I took a break to see what you were doing and I am charmed and thrilled to see your bees. Beautiful photographs. Spring in your gardens is a joy.
I am celebrating the bee in April although I love them all year long...
I also daydream easily...
I shall sing with the fairies too.
Perhpas I shall go sit with a daffodil and sing for a few minutes...
Your birthday gifts are so sweet.
You have lots of dear friends.
I hear the wind in my gardens perhaps soon my bees will be buzzing about too. I still can have below freezing so I will wait to bring the Mason Bee Box out. I know there are bee eggs in the box!
Happy happy bees,
Sherry

Dear Sherry.....I have been busy today....I took the parents and Mum in law shopping and then I spent the rest of the day gardening. I have planted three more clematis to grow through some shrubs.....
I have also increased the size of the beds that are near the pond.....I have many ideas for planting.....I have coneflowers in the greenhouse, they are doing well......and I may add some grasses.....I am not sure yet......

It was wonderful to see so much bee activity......I also saw an orange tipped butterfly....she would not settle, she was looking for ladies smock...there is plenty along the lane....I am sure she will find it.....

I put my mason bee units out today.....they are sheltered..... I have a few in the units but am sad they did not do well last year....the weather was bad for all bees....the wet and cold did them no favours....I am hoping this summer will be a little warmer......

I shall celebrate the bee with you and perhaps tomorrow I shall sit with daffodils and sing.......

Hi Cheryl. I'm so glad you got your parcel and I'm even gladder you loved it xxx Naturally there had to be a bee theme, and the poppy seeds... well of course, I had to include them as I know how much you love your own little Poppi. Poor little bee, losing a leg. He is so delicate that I suspected that despite my best efforts, he may not have arrived intact. I cannot take credit for him though. Nicola, my eldest daughter, is an absolute whizz with Fimo and I 'commissioned' her to make it lol xxx

We are all fine thank you, but I haven't blogged for a while as a dear friend of mine has been going through a bit of a time of it and I have been a bit bogged down with that. Plus Richard and I had a weekend in Harrogate which was wonderful. I got the chance to meet up with some of my blog pals and it was lovely, plus we visited a nice bird of prey centre on Sunday. I'm just off to post my Papertake Weekly card now but I'm planning to do a big catch up this week, so I'll be back. Much love to you and I hope you and Mr P are well. xxxxxx

How wonderful that your bees are back and you've got a new visitor too! What a treat! I just spent yesterday sitting under the blooming lilac bush watching bees and butterflies, so I know exactly what it was like for you. There's nothing better, is there?

The bees, on the note cards and on the cherry blossoms, are indeed beautiful!

How nice to receive a belated birthday gift. Just when you thought your birthday was over! The note cards are very pretty. I do hope Mr. P. mends the poor little bee so he can join the others in your garden.

Spring Magic for sure! It's come to your garden in the bees and flowers and faeries too.
Happy Spring Song.

How thrilling to see the bees amoung the cherry blossoms. I know those and the carder bee brought you (and me) a lot of quiet pleasure. It does look warmer there today, I hope it stays warm for you. I know how chilly last summer was. I am sure the bees would appreciate a warm summer.

After our cold rainy weekend the sun came out today and the wind laid. It would have been a nice day to do more gardening, but I was busy with errands most of the day and didn't get out til late afternoon. Did see a daffodil almost in bloom and I think my lilacs survived the frost. I am happy!

Lovely birthday presents. The best are the ones made with love. :)

Hi Mimi....it was good to feel a little warm yesterday as I gardened....it has been cold for way too long......

Hi Dawny....do hope that your friend is ok, I am sure she will be grateful that you are supporting her....

Weekend sounds wonderful and no doubt the lovely Richard enjoyed visiting the birds of prey.....

Take care and thank you again.......

Hi Cindy....indeed there is nothing better. The drone of the bees is hypnotic and calming......and it is all free......we are blessed to be able to appreciate them......

Hi Lisa....I am glad the weather has improved and that it is sunny and warm.....I somehow thought you would be a daydreamer, my fairy friend......

Cheryl said...

Wendy.....spring is here, and the bees are telling me so....
Little bee will be fine, Mr P has a way....it will be mended....

Hope your weather is still improving and you are seeing more and more signs of spring.......

Cheryl said...

Hi Beckie....so glad that your lilac survived the frost....these blooms are far to precious to lose...there is nothing like the fragrance of lilac....

Indeed, I understand, life is so hectic....I thought it was meant to slow down as we got older??

I hope that the weather stays sunny and warm for you to give you a chance to play with your camera and be out in the garden....

Have fun whatever you do......

Cheryl, those note-cards are gorgeous! Suitable for framing, I would think! How sweet to have Poppies for Poppi. Hope the little bee manages to mend well so the little bee leg can be reattached nicely.

It looks like Spring at your Wildlife Sanctuary is well on it's way. I can think of nothing more fitting to celebrate than to do a little daydreaming. I have been doing quite a lot myself lately.

Those notelets are delightful and I smiled when I saw you also had Poppy seeds, with the bee as well a lovely personal present.
Your photos are lovely, I have noticed quite a few Bumble bees in the garden the last few days.
Regarding the Cicely Mary Barker verse I have a confession, I was given a copy of a collection of her work when I was a child and still have it now so when I saw a complete boxed set of her flower fairy books recently I bought it to give as a child's birthday present. However I was so enchanted by it that I kept it for myself!!

Hi Morning Glories......I am so pleased with the gifts....bloggers are such very nice people....

Daydreaming, I am sure, is good for the soul.....and it can't hurt anyone, can it?

Hi shy songbird.....I love to photograph bees and butterflies...they always look so pretty....

I can quite understand you keeping the collection of fairy books.....I have them myself.....surely they are not just for children....but then I still have the child in me, do you??
Enjoy your beautiful books.....

dear cheryl,
your photos are always stunning but i think they just keep getting better. i love coming here to visit you.how exciting to see the bees return. i had one show up the other day a big bumble. i was so happy to hear/see him. there not much here but it is getting ready to all burst forth.
love your little poem.
make sure you read the song lyrics at the top of my sidebar. one of my favourite spring songs.

I love this poem, Cheryl--every spring is like the world starting over again. And I love the bees, too--it must be much warmer there. I saw my first bumblebee today---but in Arizona. Here they seem to be all black and are huge. Daughter's mastiff was very curious about them...now that he knows what they can do, hopefully he won't bother them anymore:)
