Blogging Break.......

I have spent every spare minute working in the gardens. Light showers Thursday and Friday have given the plants a lift. There is still much to do, so I will not be blogging for the next month. During that time Mr P and I are going to take our daughter.............
Riley..........

and Poppi for a two week holiday in Florida. There is much planned for the little ones....Disney, of course. Also walks along some of the beautiful beaches....Sanibel springs to mind. The last time Mr P and I visited Florida was 1992....I will be interested to see if things have changed.

So I will leave you with the following photographs which were taken in the garden today....a lot of hard work but it does look so much better......
I caught this image of a fly whilst using my camera......now that is creepy, don't you think?
I have found one advantage to the dry conditions, I have not had to get the tractor mower out to cut the grass. I cannot remember the last time I used it.
We have another heatwave approaching us ......it should arrive mid week...temperature are predicted to be around 27 C (86F).......I hope it does not last too long......
I will post again on the 4th October.......until then, stay well, stay happy and have fun in your garden............

Spindle Tree.

Our native Spindle is quite an ordinary deciduous shrub or tree......
until autumn when it colours a brilliant yellow and scarlet.

Then something even more beautiful happens......the pinkish red seed capsules reveal large, orange seeds. Wood of these species was used to make spindles.
I am in love with my little tree.............I think I may grow more..........

Walking with Nella

My parents never learnt to drive. My brother and I walked most places. Trains and buses were used occasionally.
I am grateful to them. It taught me to enjoy the fresh air.......to observe, to look and listen.......

Most days I walk Nella.......I love to be out and about with her. She is good company......and my loyal companion. She sniffs the air........

the cows are used to her. Nella ignores the cows.

The hedgerows are dripping with fruits. I picked some damsons and ate them as I strolled........
The haws are ready for the Redwings and Fieldfare, they will arrive in a few weeks....they come every year. Flocks of them in the hedgerows.........
Lots of food for the birds......rosa canina has produced many hips.......
This is my favourite oak........I think the collection of branches make such a wonderful piece of artwork.......I would love this tree in my garden........
Beautiful seedheads decorate the verges .........finches will flock to them....natures food store.
We start to walk home......I could hear bells jingling........we see many ponies and traps in the summer. The horse looked uneasy.....Nella does not like horses, but usually behaves well. I pulled her to the verge........the horse was skittish and started to head towards us (no photographs, I was a little worried). The horse got way too close for comfort and Nella was starting to bark......it all got a little messy. I know the gent in the driving seat.....no 'good mornings'....we were both busy trying to keep the situation under control. At one point I was thinking of jumping in the ditch..........lol
Once I stopped shaking I took a photograph and noticed the sign on the back
CAUTION...........BREAKING IN. I walked back down the lane with a smile.......Nella and I were strolling along as though nothing had happened.
Mr P always says if you walk away from a situation 'forget it, and smile'.
Soon be home Nella......time for a nice cup of tea........
