Incarvillea are such beautiful flowers. I love the way they just hang on their long stem waving about in the breeze. The bees love them to which for me personally is a bonus. Mine grow in a large tub, I am not sure if rabbits eat these or not. I certainly am not taking the chance, so in the pot they stay.

I apologise straight away to anyone who does not like spiders but this absolutely fascinated me. I was in the garden early this morning looking for lily beetles, like you do. I stumbled across the spider killing a cardinal beetle. I couldn't get a better shot as there was a lot of foliage around them. Its amazing what you can find if you look closely enough.

Beautiful incarvillea. I'd never heard of them. Are they by any chance related to bougainvillea? (I probably spelled it wrong).
I also find spider webs absolutely magical. I don't like to think of their purpose (killing insects), but they do have to survive. I am just fascinated with the way they weave their webs and how they glisten in the sun.
It's amazing to me all the different varieties of flowers. I've never heard of an incarvillea before nor the poached egg plant (what a clever name!) you posted yesterday. I don't know if they aren't found in the US or if we use a different name for them. They are beautiful, none the less.
Spiders don't bother me, and I leave them alone (unless I find them in the house) because I know they're going to eat some insects I don't want around.

Hi Wendy...they are not related to the bougainvillea, as far as I know. I know that they originate from Asia and they grow from rooted crowns.
Spider web are beautiful....I love spiders and they do get rid of a lot of nasty pests, good ones to though!
They are beautiful, aren't they. You can't walk past this plant the blooms are quite shocking.

Most spiders are not a problem, although they CAN startle me when I first see them. LOL
I noticed that several people haven't recognized the incarvillea as hardy gloxinia. Which reminds me, I haven't seen mine in my garden...need to check that!

this made me smile, because I was out with mr. hedgewitch this morning picking off lily beetles in his container garden.. I spot them, he crunches them underfoot .. ugh!
