It's not so very, very far away;
You pass the gardener's shed and you just keep straight ahead-
I do so hope they've really come to stay.
There's a little wood, with moss in it and beetles,
And a little stream that quietly runs through;
You wouldn't think they'd dare to come merry making there-
Well, they do.
There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!
They often have a dance on summer nights;
The butterflies and bees make a lovely little breeze,
And the rabbits stand about and hold the lights.
And pick a little star to make a fan,
And dance away up there in the middle of the air?
Well, they can.
There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!
You cannot think how beautiful they are;
They all stand up and sing when the Fairy Queen and King
Come gently floating down upon their star.
The King is very proud and handsome;
The Queen - now can you guess who that could be,
(She's a little girl all day, but at night she steals away)?
Well, it's ME!

Lovely! I believe you really do have something special perhaps it's fairies at the bottom of your lovely garden!

Cheryl, I love this post! I'm in the middle of planning a fairy garden in honor of "the Elliot." Your photos are exquisite!
Your little princess is precious. She must have been a fairy queen in another life. I love the prose.
What a delightful, whimsical post!
Cheryl, what a beautiful post, and the photo of your fairy princess is so delightful! I know how much you love your garden, but I have a very strong feeling that it is even more of a magical place when you get to share it with Poppi.
It's been a long day and I'm so tired, so I can't find the right words tonight...but I do want you to know this post is very, very special.
Cheryl, seeing the photo of Poppi laughing warmed my heart. What a delightful fariy she must be-so full of glee. I'll just bet she was partly the inspiration for the fairies in your garden.
I do hope you can put this is a booklet form for her. I know she would treasure it now and always.
What a wonderful photo of Poppi, I would have that one on my wall. Tell her I said hello from the central US:) And tell her to listen carefully for that oh-so-faint tinkling of fairy bells just as the sun sets.
Loved the poem. I have fairies in my garden too but only on nites when I bring the cat inside before sunset. Fairies don't like cats:)
Cheryl,
What a beautiful girl. The fairies at the bottom of your lovely garden are so lovely. What a beautiful posting. Your little princess is precious.
Dear Cheryl,
Poppi will always cherish this post! My children are grown and live far away but they come to my blog...my Corner... and share in the comings and goings. They bring their loved ones and
friends....Poppi will some day scroll to this post and remember all the wonderful times she shared with you in the gardens.
Your photographs just get better and better....garden stories...a legacy of love.
Sherry
I believe in fairies too!
Hi Cheryl, so glad to see you here and to hear you've taken your journey to peace!!! I believe of course we need to do this on a regular basis, to keep our 'insides' clean, so good luck with the road ahead, may their be more roses than thorns.
Indeed a lovely poem with some lovely photos!
I still tell my girls though they now no longer believe me, they mustn't step on the wild mushrooms, the fairies live there...
:)
Oh Cheryl, this is healing food for my soul. Dear little Poppi is such a precious child. And she looks so happy on her swing.
Hugs
