Wednesdays birds, blooms and things.

This little bee was positively drunk as it rolled around the pollen in Rosa Rugosa......
they don't seem so keen on the white, but hoverflys love these.
The foxgloves just get better and better.
The lovely climber Solanum is just starting to make an appearance.
The Wisteria's fragrance is wafting all around the garden. I have a beautiful clematis and honeysuckle growing on these arches to. When the Wisteria finishes I shall have other blooms to look forward to.
This beautiful young Chaffinch was calling to its parents. I give myself around a minute to take a photo when I see a young bird.....I will not disturb them. You are lucky today this was the first one I took.
We have a drey in the old oak tree....that confirms, what I thought that a squirrel took the Dunnock's eggs.
Lovely hoverfly, he will get rid of my aphids.
And a little ladybird on the alpine strawberries, just having a rest.
This one just made me smile. I think its some sort of fly on the Valerian. I wish I was up there with him he looks like he is having such a good time. Have fun out there.......

Great photos Cheryl, the one of the baby bird is lovely.
I'm not familiar with Solanum ?, the flower looks a little like a potato flower, is it from the same family perhaps?
The Wisteria is lovely, and thank you for the offer of help with mine, but alas I rooted it out about 3 years ago. Maybe I will try again. I have honeysuckle and it grows like a weed, and clematis too. Why is it always the hard to grow ones that we most desire..!

Hi Sheila....yes solanum is related to the potate, so well done there.
Its the pruning on Wisteria that is so critical....also they don't like waterlogged soil. Give them some sun and they should romp away.
Gardening is full of hopes and dreams.

Cheryl, the bee on the rose does look like he is having a ball! Oh, that Foxglove!! I have never seen a Solanum but it looks so tropical. Your wisteria is still so pretty and what a good idea to inter-plant longer blooming vines. The little chaffinch(also new to me) looks like a juvenile delinquent with his spiky head feathers. Your pics are so great and I enjoy them so much. Thanks!

Oh, what a wonderful selection of insects, plants and birds. Such stunning photos, Cheryl, I don't know where to start.....I love it all.

Our purple solanum is going mad and has such a delicate fragrance. We have just put in a white one with variegated leaves and hope this does as well as the purple.

Hi Ladyluz....thank you. I lost my white Solunum unfortunately, I must say I prefer it to the purple. I hope that yours does well.
