The world seems hushed.......and life seems to slow down a little.......
White blooms, for me, bring a sense of peace and serenity.........
Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish I had planted a white garden........
in a quiet corner......
I often wonder why we are attracted to certain colours........

I love to wear white....I have tried to change, and go for vibrant colour......
but I always go back to white. If you could only have one colour in your garden....tell me what would it be???

Wonderful photos Cheryl, white is such a wonderful colour.
I've just been out on slug/snail hunt, it's been too hot today and even at 6pm I couldn't sit outside.
It's so calming listening to the birds, BB was singing beautifully for me.
It's too tough to choose just one colour. I think I too would go for white, closely followed by purple/violet.
Hi Liz....slug/snail hunt.....I have not had many this year...I think the hedgehog is doing a grand job.....
Nature is calming....life is so pressurised sometimes, isn't it? It is good to sit amongst the flowers and just be....
I love lilac....that would be my second choice.....
I haven't been having many problems with the slugs/snails either until the past couple of days, probably because it's been very muggy. I wish we had hedgehogs, instead I'll have to encourage frogs in!
Most of my time is spent in the garden during the evening, just staring, watching and thoroughly enjoying being here.
White is wonderful Cheryl but I can't hardly wear white. I always stain, smear, and generally ruin anything white that I wear.
In my garden I love to look out and see yellow. I think it is so cheery.
Beautiful!
I lost my comment! So here goes a new one. Your white flowers look wonderful...whenever the Ox-Eye Daisy blooms, I wish I had more white...It's a beautiful color and draws the eye across the garden to see it. Now my favorite garden color would be pink. If I were allowed to cheat, I would plant all the shades of pink. There are about 15 of them so i could have a luscious pink garden.
I adore wearing white blouses and t-shirts, but have to cover myself with a chef's apron to protect them from my messy ways.

When I saw the preview of your post on my sidebar my first reaction to the photo was how very peaceful it looked and sure enough it is a lovely serene posting Cheryl.
What a very difficult question, I love colour so much, it excites me immensely, I just don't know how to choose! My front garden has an abundance of yellows, I find it never fails to lift the spirit, but that is mainly foliage plants, with Daffodils in the Spring.
I think I have spent too long puzzling over this, you have me pretty well stumped! I suppose if it really could only be one it would have to be yellow because otherwise I wouldn't be able to include Daffodils and that would be unthinkable!
Wonderful whites ! Nice to have dibs and daps of whites(I think that's how you say it).
I like that...a hush in the air.
My favourite times are dawn and dusk too. I also enjoy the quiet, somehow clearer air and softness of the birds and animals as they either begin their day or prepare for night.
I did not like white flowers until I seeing them in your blog. I thought they were uninteresting. Now I see the beauty of white flowers - the peace and serenity and quiet essence. Thank you, my friend.
One colour only - oh, I like the vibrant shades of pink, purple, fuschia, yellow, orange, deep reds, hmmmmmm, I would have to say fuschia, which to me is a combination of pink and purple.
Happy gardening!
Hi Liz....you seem to have found your little bit of paradise....music to my ears.....
Hi Lisa....I am messy to but somehow my clothes seem to survive...although I do have many a stained T shirt......
Yellow is bright and cheery and without a doubt reflects your personality.....
Dear Gail.....I have such a lot of white in the garden but it is amazing, that when it is dotted around, you lose it...
I visited a white garden once....it had been very cleverly planted....plenty of green obviously but just the right shades. White varies considerably and this can make or break a white garden. A challenge but I would just love to have a go.....
Pink is lovely....and think us girls always have a little bit of pink in us somewhere.....I knew you would be a pink girl (PPP).....
White flowers are so beautiful (and often hard to photograph), especially under a full moon. I have too many yellow and pink flowers and try to find other colours for accent in my garden. I think I only have white daisies.
Lovely pics Cheryl of a very tranquil garden. I have a white garden and am very fond of it. I have also used a lot of white when decorating my house. I had planned to make may livingroom completely white but no, colour crept in. I love white but colour too.
I think I'd go for pink if I was allowed only 1 colour.
Every time I see your white blooms, Cheryl, I think to myself I must add more white to the garden. I don't know why I always am drawn to other colors when plant shopping. White is so peaceful and serene, I can see why you love it so. My favorite color in the garden? If it were possible, I would have blue, specifically sky-blue. It's my favorite color, and I find it just as peaceful as white. The only problem is that there are few true blue flowers; even my hydrangeas that started out such a beautiful blue usually turn pink because my soil isn't acidic enough. This is probably why I have so many purples--they're often labeled as blue.
I definitely can't wear white--I'm too messy:)
Those are beautiful. You almost converted me to a white person;) My color in the garden is pink, I just tend toward pink plants. Now and then I make an effort to introduce some other colors, this year I added several reds.
I just love those white foxgloves!!!
Marnie
I love your white flowers, but I think they are made more outstanding by the other colors in the garden. I can't imagine only a single color in the garden, but for me it would likely be yellow. The earliest spring flowers seem to be yellow and many of the last bloomers of summer are yellow as well.
I love all the white flowers. If I could have only one color, it would be purple because there are so many shades and I love it so. But I'm definitely not a monochrome-type gardener.
Hi Jan......yellow is a cheerful colour and I do so agree the first spring blooms have to be yellow.....the hope of all the sunny days ahead.
I must confess apart from daffs and the wonderful coreopsis I struggle a little with yellow. Although thinking about it, nasturtiums are gorgeous.....and mine are yellow...
Have a lovely week Jan......
Hi Wendy....I understand what you are saying. There are many colours I did not like, and then I started blogging.....I have been converted. I rarely planted pink....it was just a little too girly for me.....now I love it.....
Hope all is well with you......
Hi Ruth.....I have so many colours in the garden but white and pale lilac are the two I plant most of.
I just like the crispness of white and the softness of the lilac....for my eye, they are a perfect combination......
Hi Yolanda.....I remembered you have a white garden and it is lovely. I particularly like your white roses.....
Dear Rose.....you are quite right blue is a beautiful colour to have in the garden. There are not many to choose from.....I love the blue poppy, but I just cannot keep it here and it is way too expensive to have as an annual....
Love in the mist is a beautiful blue as well. Did your seeds take?
Have a good week......
Hi Marnie....if you would like some seeds from the white foxglove, I will save some for you and post in autumn.....just let me know......
Hi ncmountainwoman....yellow seems to be a popular colour in the garden.....perhaps it reminds us of the sun and the warmth of summer......
Dear Cheryl,
I also love white flowers.
I know the bees and butterflies like yellows and purples...the Hummingbirds like reds. I did once have a lovely white moon garden. It was beautiful....white roses and white calla lilies...maybe I will re-plant it. I miss the lovely flowers from that garden.
Your whites are lovely. My favorite time of every day is dusk...I love the twilight.
Sending peace and calm and hopefully some rain your way. I have had plenty!
Sherry
I love your whites and do find them calming. I think white in the garden gives the eye a chance to rest from all the other colors. And it acts as a great contrast as well.
My favorite color is pink and I lean towards the more pastel, but purple comes in a very close second. This year I was determined to break away from those colors and add some spice. I have lots of oranges and some reds, bright yellows and light blues. For the most part, I am enjoying the change. But I couldn't give up the pinks entirely. :)
Want me to send you some hot weather???
Dear Sherry....twilight is very special....and wonderful for photography....I also like the stillness that comes with it....
I have calla lillies growing here in my bog garden....I thought I had lost them during our harsh winter.....I have three out of the five, so I am more than thankful....
It is hot and dry....I would love it to rain.....the trees shrubs and perennials need it badly.....
we need a good soaking....
Have a fun trip.......
Dear Beckie....it is good to have change.....hot and spicy colours, very passionate, very latin......
look forward to seeing your postings.....
I love the pastels to....and tend to follow that path generally....and I have planted more pinks since blogging.....
No please please please do not send hot weather.....it is so dry here.....we are in desparate need of rain....
It was a cold rain free spring and so far, this summer has been dull and dry...apart from the odd shower.....
Hope you are well......
Absolutly `gorgeous` Cheryl..
my fav`s in there `The Lily` hmmm TFS
Enjoy the rest of your week..
Hope you and yours are all well big loves:) xxx
i totally agree white is a wonderful garden colour. i am always thinking about planting an all white garden. my favourite colours in the garden are white, green, purple, and red.
i am waiting on some chocolate blooms i have never seen any so maybe they will become one of my fave colours too. i am glad i really don't have to pick one colour but if it had to it would be purple first with white a very close second.
when i lived in the city i dreamed of an all white healing garden...one day i hope i will plant one.
thanks for letting gardeners know how beautiful...peaceful...tranquil...white is in the garden
I love to be in the garden at dawn and dusk too. Right now with our high temperatures, I enjoy early morning more than evening. I too love white flowers. I have white blossoms in my front garden, but the rest is a riot of color. I think white is so restful. I love to watch my beloved gardenias change from pure white to a lovely rich cream, to almost a yellow. White is anything but boring! I just can't wear it. I always end up with stains all over me.
Very nice flowers , I like the relaxing feeling in your garden.
Hi Marmee......I agree purple is a lovely colour and of course the favourite colour of the humble bumble.....
I would so enjoy if you managed to plant a white garden....there is such an ethereal quality to a border of white blooms....
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.....
Hi Morningglories.....our temperatures are rising....it will be 30 degrees middle next week....way too hot for me.....
White blossoms are lovely and have such a charm about them......
I love to see a tree dripping with white.......very romantic, I think......
I LOVE this.
YES the best time in the garden
is dawm and dust.
Your white flowers are peaceful feeling.
Once i thought, "Who would want WHITE in the garden !!!" but now i know it is lovely.
To answer your question though . . . for me, in my garden
if i had to choose just one color
it would be
blue-purple.
Dear Cheryl.... on this very warm Sunday your pictures of white in your garden are wonderfully cooling! I love white too but so often find that you can always guarantee if you wear a white top when going out I'll always spill something on it!!
Sorry I've not popped over for a while - trying to find the time for blogging isn't easy with so much to do in the garden....but how you find the time yourself is a mystery - perhaps you have a secret!?
Hope you're having a lovely weekend and will try and pop over again v. soon Miranda x
