Cheryl, I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend, it is soo heartbreaking having to say good-bye for good..... and it hurts so so much..... Our dear deerhound lurcher succumbed at the end of January to old age, and the hole he left will never be filled.......... and yet, my heart is healing now since we've had our little prince Elmer from a wonderful place called Southern Lurcher Rescue, and I know it was the right decision we made to take him into his forever home with us.... May your sweet little dog rest in peace forever.... he will be missed so so much ......... Hugs to you (in tears as well), Viviane.
Oh, I knew this was coming and I am so sorry to hear the words. I know you will grieve for this wonderful dog, and our hearts are heavy as we recall our own grief with dogs we have lost.
It never gets easier, and nothing will replace this dog, but there is another dog for you.
Our breeder has a saying about losing one of his favorite dogs, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." In time, I'm sure you can smile through the tears.
When I lost the dog of my childhood (she died when I was 25), I vowed to never get another one, and I didn't, at least not for myself. My two youngsters "wished" for a dog shortly after my loss, and Lassie showed up at our door. Someone apparently had abandoned her. She never took the place of my old friend, but she was definitely loved and cherished just the same. I am sorry you lost a dear one.
Cheryl, I am so sorry dear friend. Polly was a beautiful and loyal companioin. As you said earlier, 'it was her time'.Remember the goodtimes with her. You have friends who love you!
Dear Cheryl, I am so sorry about Polly. I've been worried about her ever since I saw your comments last night. It is never easy to say goodbye to someone who has become such an important part of our family. May you take comfort in knowing she is comfortable and at peace now; in time I hope happy memories will replace your sadness. Perhaps one day you can plant a tree or shrub in her memory.
Dear Cheryl I'm so sorry to read about the loss of your little furry friend. It's heartbreaking to lose a beloved pet like your lovely Polly, I know it all too well.
But there is reason to be glad too, glad that your sweet Polly wolly do do has led such a wonderful and happy life, surrounded and protected by the people who so dearly loved her. Not everybody is fortunate enough to lead such a life, be it pets or humans.
Dear Cheryl, you have my deepest sympathy. It is so difficult to lose someone you love. I think Rose is right about planting a tree or shrub in Polly's honor. She will always be with you especially in the garden.
Oh Cheryl, I am so sorry. I e-mailed Mich first thing and I didnt want to ask but I just had to cos I was thinking about you both all night. I was so upset when she told me and I'm in tears again now as I am typing this now that I've seen her sweet little face (I am such a soppy old date) and I can imagine your heartache.
Wnen my old cat Shah boy died - I had had him for nearly 16 years - I was devastated, and to those who say 'oh it's only an aninal' then I say that they have obviously never had one cos they are part of your family. Anyway, my great friend who runs a cat rescue sent me a little story / poem, about a place called Rainbow Bridge, and I choose to believe that one day, me and old Shah will have another cuddle, as will you and Doo Doo. Now I will warn you that its a weepy and I don't want to give you any more tears than you have had today, but you keep it close to your heart cos I hope it will help. She was a very lucky dog to have found you and you gave her 7 wonderful happy well cared for years. xxxx I leave you with this and all my love and best wishes and please excuse any typing errors etc but I can barely see the screen xxxx
Rainbow Bridge (author unknown)
There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth It is called Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills, valleys with lush green grass When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this special place There is always food and water and warm spring weather The old and frail are young again Those who are maimed are made whole again They play all day with each other There is only one thing missing They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up ! The nose twitches ! The ears are up ! The eyes are staring ! And this one suddenly runs from the group ! You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her into your arms and embrace your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated
Dear Cheryl, I am so sorry for the lost of your beloved pet. My daughter's dog is also waiting to cross over. It won't be long now. A time of sadness, a time to cry.....this fall is truly transition time. But you are not alone, Cheryl, we are here with you. Light and Love

Yes, they have left him, No, there’s naught to do- Save let him out of life the gentle way; For wear of body tissues past repair Is that hard price so many years must pay.
Yes, I’ve known him since he was a pup, Vaccinated him long years ago And treated him a score of times since then- Somehow its fitting I should let him go. He trusts me and holds up a paw unasked: “One needle more, old friend-the best and last” Thus to put off the weariness of pain- Slip soft from sleep to silence, suffering past.
Do animals have souls, you ask of me? No, not as humans do in their degree, But loved and loving beasts, the wise agree, By body’s death could never cease to be!
It is so sad when one of our family crosses over. Just know Polly Wolly will be in a better place and will suffer no longer. She'll be there beside you whenever you want her to be. xx
