I found this juvenile greenfinch sheltering from the rain this morning............I was a little concerned about it but when I went out a couple of hours later it had disappeared..............hopefully it was fine...............
Freda has disappeared from the pond.............she has not been seen for around 48 hours.........poor old Frank lives a lonely existance, swimming in the pond, sitting on the rocks, and looking for his Freda..............he will not be having a good weekend..............................BUT
I hope that you all do.
NOTE: I awoke to heavy rain again this morning...........I sat in the comfort of my home.........give a thought today for those who are victims of flooding world wide. Yesterday in Wales and the South West rivers burst their banks and peoples homes were flooded......also my heart goes out to the family of the teenage girl who lost her life yesterday due to the floods...........

i love the name, poppi, no wonder she is at one with nature. she has a great place to experience it at nana's. you definately, want to nurture that side of her.\
poor fred!
Poppi is a doll! My granddaughters love to explore the garden also. Their favorite plant to pick and eat is rosemary. There is nothing like seeing the world around you through the eyes of a child!
My condolences to Fred. Hope he finds his Freida soon.
Ohhh you've reminded me to go and see where our frogs are!
Gorgeous pics :)
Poppi looks like a true garden fairy! She must take after her Nana in her love of nature.
Oh dear, Freda is missing? Poor Frank! I've come to enjoy their adventures; I hope she is just off for a little trip and comes back.
I love seeing Poppi in the gardens. I know she is learning so much from you. As long as we are teaching our young to care for and respect nature-nature will be fine.
Poor Fred looks so downhearted. I hope Freda comes back. Have a great weekend, Cheryl!
Thank you all re Freda.......Frank is coping at this time.......
Poor Fred. He will just have to be happy with Poppi roaming the area.
I will say a prayer for the flood victims. It is very sad. Mother Nature can be so cruel sometimes.
A garden were children can touch and smell and listen is a great playground.
I have spent a couple of days looking over your garden through your blog. You seem to have quite a community.
We have been working to develope a wildlife habitat in our garden and it is good to read a blog that speaks to this. It is an inspiration...Gloria
Dear Cheryl,
Poppi is a darling. She will always carry you and your gardens in her heart.
Oh dear...Fred must be very lonely...I feel so sad for him and other creatures that lose their mates.
I am sending my love and care to those who are facing flooding. Some in the US are also having wild storms.
Please stay warm and dry and safe.
Your photos just get better and better. The little Blue Tit is charming...
I think a children's book "Poppi and the Little Creatures" would be a deliightful read. Perhaps a series...
Namaste,
Sherry
Tku Lisa for your caring......
Tku Gloria for your kind comments........I will pop over and visit you........
Your comments are beautiful Sherry, thank you so much.........I wish I had the ability to produce a childrens book..........
hey i reread your lovely post and realized i called frank, fred.
sorry about that i guess i was putting freda and frank together in my head.
hope FRANK finds freda fast.
say that fast three times! lol!
What a darling child is your little Poppi...I think she will always be one with nature.
Sending blessings to those suffering because of heavy rains and flooding.
Cute little greenfinch. I thought it was a goldfinch.
Dear Fred - don't give up hope. Freida is just taking some alone time for herself. She'll be back very soon (hoping that your heart grows fonder as you miss her). Ha!
That was so funny Marmee....I started to call him Fred after you had.......senior moment for me I think...lol
And that was a bit of a tongue twister......
Thanks Wendy.....there are over a hundred flood warnings across the UK, seven are serious.......
many people have left their homes and several people have died.......
Hi again Cheryl :-)
Ah yes… I agree with everyone that Poppi is a wonderful name for a child that enjoys nature. Long may her enjoyment last :-D
Having read your next posting (I am working back) I see that you still have worries about Freda. I also might have worries about your young greenfinch. Perhaps it was just the angle of the photo but looking at the beak it looked like it had the finch disease Trichomonasis. I have photos on my blog.
My thoughts too went to the family of the teenage girl especially as I have two myself.
At last, I can "experience" rain, through your descriptions and photos. Living as I do with little rain gets mighty dry at times... I love going outside in a light shower and seeing how things look and smell and watching the antics of creatures such as you've shared. Nice photos.
`Wow` Poppi is `Beautiful`...hmmm good taste I love Lavender.....
simply divine:)TFS!!!:)
sweet little goldfinch.
good you left her alone, not easy to do.
I wanted to share with you that Martha is having a blog contest. Perhaps you'd like to join in!
You can read about it HEREand post a comment.
Have fun!
~~Becky
