Unexpected visitor......

She does not visit very often and is totally unpredictable.....
She stands out in a crowd and loves to be the centre of attention.....

She would look even more beautiful amongst lilac and pale pink......

but she has a mind of her own....if she chooses yellows and whites, so be it.....
I tolerate her moods.....I have not seen her for two years.......
I give you, the black peony poppy. She will last but a day.........fleeting she will be.......but a treasure none the less........

I adore dark flowers and love this poppy--I think she picked the perfect spot, as she really does stand out. If she only lasts a day, I'm sure she wanted to be certain that you would find her! (Plants are smart that way, ;-) (P.S. Still very much enjoying the tea!)

Beautiful. It's wonderful to have her whenever she chooses to show up. I looked for peony poppy seeds this spring and couldn't find any. Guess they need to be ordered online. She really is the queen of the garden if only for just one day.

Goodness! She DOES stand out in a crowd. Just beautiful. I am not familiar with this beauty.

What variety of nasturium is that in your header? So pretty.

I love how you write.

Hi Donna...thank you, most kind.

She is beautiful, Cheryl! I'm sure you're happy to see her wherever she decides to pop up. None of my poppy seeds germinated this year, but...there's always next year!

So beautiful! What a treat for you, and for us! Art

Hi Lisa....and Rose.....these is a really beautiful poppy. Why are poppies so difficult to germinate? I remember the late and great Christopher Lloyd saying the same....
I have some really beautiful poppies this year and many different colours. It is obviously a good year for them.....

How lovely Cheryl, now she is the sort of visitor I wouldn't mind descending on me unexpectedly! Such a beautiful colour.

I hope you have had some much needed rain today, we have. Are you and Mr P enjoying your time out together this week?

OHHHHH!Cheryl, you have the touch. :) None of the black poppy seeds you sent came up, in fact not one of the many I tried have grown. :( I will just have to enjoy them here.

Hope you are having a great week. We cooled down a lot and it has been heaven. I have been tired this week as we really pushed at work, so not much done in the garden.(or house either!)

Thanks for sharing your visitor. :)

Hi Jan....she is a real beauty...I believe I have some more dotted in that border....

We had a short burst of rain during the night....none today....it is really so dry. I have brown grass and lots of clover.....it actually looks pretty. The plants are struggling....but the native meadow border has worked wonderfully well....this is the way to go ...

We have had a fabulous week....lots of lunches out....family came to supper this evening....played hide and seek with the little ones....
it is just nice to be able to spend some time together.....we are just so busy most of the time....

Have a lovely weekend....so pleased you had some rain....big puff please, could do with it here......

Hi Beckie....Poppies are so hard....everyone says they are easy, I have never found it so.....
if they like your soil, they stay....if not they are up and out of there......
I can't tell you how pleased I am to see this beautiful poppy back....

It has been a sweltering week.....I have not been so hot for a long time.....I confess I have struggled this week....

It has been lovely having Mr P home.....lots of lunches out and strolling around local villages window shopping.....family came this evening and had supper....the children came and played, we had such fun together.....they lift me high.....they have my heart....

Sorry to hear you are so busy....don't worry about the house Beckie, it is only a house.....it will sort out at some point. We all become too obsessed with our homes.....I don't do that anymore....there are much more important things to do than housework.....

Take care my friend, and happy 4th July to you and yours.....

Oh, you do have a way with words! What an original way to present Ms. black peony poppy! She looks absolutely exotic. And does stand out in your garden. I don't think I've ever seen one before. Thank you for sharing.
