The wind had changed direction....a strong north easterly.......where did my brief encounter with spring go.....was it a dream.......
The sky was beginning to darken and looked quite angry......
The rooks had gathered in the old oak, waiting for the feeders to be restocked......
The robin looked up letting them know he was first in line, and they would have to wait their turn.....
that was after little Blue Tit of course.......
The Great Tit had a few words to say.....but waited patiently.......
Two hours later it started to snow.....the old seats in the copse looked as though they belonged to a bygone age........
My garden chair is such a beautiful piece of art.....I think the light snowfall suits it well.......
More and more birds arrived as the snow increased.....and my favourite song thrush came back....she had left during the sunny spell........
The blackbird sitting in the middle of the garden showed well against the white background.......
And finally two gentle birds feeding together...........the forecast is for prolonged snow overnight..........and I apologise to those living in the United States and Canada, I know many of you have REAL snow, and to you this must seem almost laughable...........but indulge me just a little bit please !!!!lol

What beautiful pictures Cheryl. I think Spring was having us on actually!!! We've been out shopping and I have to say that the wind was bracing. Then we actually had a few flakes of snow, but nothing like you. I LONG for it to snow just so I can go out and play in it with Kyla - she has never seen it. Hope you and Mr P are well - stay warm, and much love xxxxx
I love the gazing ball doffing the chapeau. A wonderful set of bird photos. At least they haven't abandoned the feeders for warmer climates. You may whine about your snow all you want. After a spring tease a person just can't hardly deal with the snow.
Hi Cheryl..Your pictures are just soooo `beautiful`....Oh Wow look at all that snow fall!!!The children would love it!!!!
Think it`s closing in on us here!!!It never really settles here tho because we are literally 2 mins from the sea...so the salt air affects it!!!
Hope you had a lovely weekend:)~X~
and `Thankyou` for the info....much appreciated for sure~X~
Hi Dawny......it is snowing as I type...sitting in front of a log fire with my feet up.....
Huffing and puffing and blowing it your way for little Kyla.....
Hi Lisa....I am loving my gazing ball it tells so many different stories.......
It is still snowing but I somehow think we will not catch up with you.
Re: beans on toast....they are baked beans.....in tins....cowboys eat them!! Did you try it??
Hi Terrie....I would love to have the challenge of gardening near the coast....they say it is difficult but I have many ideas for a coastal gardens......
Hi Cheryl, going to be a cold week for us in the south east. Always a good set of photos and a nice tale on you blog.
Lovely set of fotos Cheryl, hoping spring will soon be with us, had a few flakes today but didnt settle, sue.x
Wonderful series of images. I read your blog as we await our overnight snow promised by the mett office. Very enjoyable blog thanks for sharing.
Cheryl the snow makes everything look
so magical as you show in your gazing ball all frosted up. We certainly have mountains of snow here in my world however the bleakest time of year can have its beauty also as you show us today with the birds visiting.Stay warm.
Cheryl,
I don't mind at all...we are still waiting for a snowfall as beautiful as yours. Of course the birds are rushing back...they know they will be taken care of by a kind hearted woman~~They are beautiful. gail
Oh Cheryl, I would never wish our snow on you! I love coming here to see your garden when our is totally buried.
Your chairs look so sad, as if saying "o.k. snow do what you will. I won't move."
I am glad your little thrush came back to you for food. And the rest too. You got quite a lot of bird pics today. That must have taken a lot of patience on your part.
Hope the snow melts soon.
Hugs
Here I was envying you your images of spring this past week, Cheryl! I'm sorry the cold weather has returned, but the snow cover does look beautiful in your garden. I love the little gazing ball in its cover of ice, and the birds are such a treat. Spring will return for real one of these days
I do think the gazing ball is beautiful. I must say that I am pleased it is not snowing here for now, but I believe it is soon to come tomorrow.
A snow of any amount after your lovely weather last week must be so disheartning. It does look so pretty on your chairs and of course your tree seat. Those birds knew just where to come to get fed. I'm so glad your song thrush came back even if it did mean nasty weather returned also. Hopefully you won;t have to wait to long before blue skies and green grass reappear!
Funny thing we have about -20C here but since we've had quite warm winter for two previous years that todays weather feels soooo cold. I look through pics of ice storms and think "this is where people are cold" but continue feezing anyway ) So I guess I understand you.
Also your gazing ball looks awesome! Do birds show any interest in it I wonder?
Hi Scotia and Hamish....did you get some snow?
Hi Naturegirl tku for dropping by....you are quite right, winter also holds much beauty.......the birds flocking to the garden is lovely to see but I must confess I do worry about them when the weather is so extreme.
Hi Gail....if you want your snow, I hope that it arrived for you. It has been snowing all day, so we have a good covering now.....
They say the cold spell will last the week......
Hi Wendy....bird shots are difficult here. The birds are so far away from me and most I take from the conservatory....they don't quite look the same through glass, do they??
But at least it tells the story of what is visiting the garden...
Stay safe and warm
Hi Rose....it is so strange, last week I was gardening and thinking of spring and all that it holds.....now....I am back in the grip of winter......that is UK weather for you, it is never predictable.......
Where did the warm weather go Beckie.....I really don't know where I am at the moment......
snow is not the norm for the South of England.......it has been a cold winter for us......
There are reports that a lot of the wildlife is struggling......
Your gazing ball looks very intriguing !
Funny how your birds just wait for you to refill the feeders.
We can't see them waiting but once back in the house...it's meal time !
