Can anyone tell me what this is. I bought it without a name tag on it. The person who sold it to me also didn't know what it was, strange! Is it some sort of anemone I wonder?
Is it a ranunculous of some type? That's what the leaves make me think...Hi am gail and I am making a point of visiting blogs with wildlife, native,and such in their name. There are just so many wonderful gardeners out in the blog world. BTW, I garden in Nashville, TN.

Is it in flower now, Cheryl? I have an RHS book and will take a look, pics are so small though I have to have good light and specs to see the tiny pics lately :-)
Well I don't think I will ever get a job in plant identification :-) I have to say that my first thought was some kind of peony but I may be totally wrong :-)
Hi Cheryl - thanks for all your comments on my site today - you know you've got me on this flower - I'll be honest I don't know... have spent quite a bit of time trawling through my RHS books - if I had to guess I'd suggest it comes from the wider family Ranunculaceae - I wonder if it might be a variety of Trollius but to be honest this would be rather early for it to be flowering. Do let me know if you find out I'd love to know and if I find anymore will happily get in touch!
Your garden looks great and lovely photos on here too... have been cutting grass here today and clearing some of the dead stuff down in our woodland - I love it!

Snap I have given the grass its first cut today. Looks a bit shabby but it will pick up, it always does.
