Butterflies and whimsy.........

A small Comma visits most days at the moment.......
she loves the Dogwoods and the berries................

she passes the time sitting in the sun..............and sipping from the fruits.........her days are numbered I am sure........I must enjoy her for as long as I can.........

Doesn't the garden look different at night.............I have bought a mystical hare to gaze at the moon.................

Lovely little Comma! Are their numbers increasing?

Sweet little Hare--he almost looks as if he is howling at the moon!

I am surprised you have butterflies this late in the autumn. Commas are quite uncommon in our area. I only saw 2 this summer. Lovely pictures.

Cheryl, I love your new header. The Comma is such a gorgeous butterfly. How grand she has chosen to visit where there is lots of food and warmth. I was out for a while today, but too cool for butterflies. They may be gone for the season. But I did see bumble bees busily working the remaining flowers. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Morning Glory.....I do not think they are increasing in numbers.....I certainly have had plenty here this year....but my garden has much that they need.....other people tell me they have not seen any......

Hi Ruth I did quite well this year for butterflies.....but as I have already said I plant and provide shelter for them......

Such a pretty Comma; we don't have these in our area, or at least I haven't seen any. I know, too, that their days are numbered--we must enjoy them while we can!

Hope you have a good weekend, Cheryl!

Dear Cheryl,
She is a lovely butterfly. Your pictures of her are also very lovely. The fountain looks very pretty in the moonlight. Hares are full of magic. Yours is charming.
How nice to see your gardens at night.
I also am enjoying each minute the bugs are out. I see the sun has broken through the clouds. Time to feed the birds.
Have a grand weekend.
Sherry

Dear Sherry.....the comma is a pretty little thing....I have not seen her today but that does not mean that she is not around.....

The hare is beautiful......he is made of granite.......the photograph does not do him justice.......

I agree...the gardens have a whole different look at night - sometimes I enjoy gazing around during a late night wake-up. Your mystical hare helps add to the night-time feeling of awe.

I've only just discovered your blog, but wanted to say what lovely photographs, and well done on your award too. I'll be back.

Hi Wendy....I felt serene when I took the photographs....I really got lost in the moment....these times are special......

The hare looks beautiful in the moonlight....the main reason I bought him.......the shadows make him look real at night......
