My friends are back......

When the sun comes out and the temperature rises by a couple of degrees........
your friends return to the garden.......

they hide in the grasses....and enjoy the warmth......

their wings glitter in the sunshine........
they make a piece of wood come to life..............

they add autumnal colour.............
that simply takes your breath away.......but there is someone missing......
not really.......I have just saved the best till last.....this looks like the queen to me......she is a very large bee........my heart skipped a beat when I saw her.....will she stay........ I live in hope..........

Nice pics...you've captured the little creatures enjoying the warmth of a nice autumn day. I'll bet they are enjoying this special time with you, knowing that soon they will be gone......until spring.....especially the queen bee.

Ohhhhh....I love the dragonfly! I have one that lights on my tree outside my window where I sit at the computer. There's something special about dragonflies!

We are having Indian summer and I did see three butterflies and a couple of persistent mosquitoes today. But we have had frost and the insects are few (except for the spiders in our house!)

Hi Cheryl

Great to see your pics (as usual)!
What a delight to see a queen bee. She really is very beautiful, but then, so are lots of your little friends in the garden.

As for bees - I'm hoping to get a couple of hives in a few weeks. I contacted the local beekeepers association and they put me on to an elderly gentleman who has hives to sell. He said he needs to feed the bees up a bit after winter, but he's going to ring me back in a few weeks when they are ready to be moved. I'm soooo excited! Will keep you posted. xx

Isn't it wonderful that we're enjoying this little bit of "extra" summer; especially as our garden visitors are enjoying it too.

Some nice pics too Cheryl.

Hi Tricia .....after the terrible summer we had this is indeed a bonus.....we must try to enjoy it for as long as we can.....

Look at the sunshine, Cheryl! We were so happy to get some rain this past week, but I know you've had more than your share. Lovely photos. I know you're partial to the bees, but I love the dragonfly photos--I haven't seen any dragonflies around here since July. The warm weather does seem to bring all the little creatures out once again.
You did have a Sunday Safari after all today!

What a wonderful assortment of insects. Glad to see you back outside and sharing your garden again.

Cheryl said...

That is really strange Rose....I thought the same thing...I thought Sunday safari's were a distant memory but the weather here is glorious......not roasting hot just pleasantly warm........I had a heron in the garden two mornings ago, time I got the camera he had gone.....lovely to see though

Dear Cheryl,
I was gone from home this weekend and was so happy to return and find your bugs are back!!
You had a Sunday safari.
I love all the bugs. The butterflies steal my heart, every one more beautiful from the last. Dragonflies are also so very beautiful. They do bring life to wood! Ahhh...Spiders and their spinnets charm me..
Having a Queen Bee in your garden is very, very exciting...She will stay.
Herons are one of my favorite birds. I sometimes see one fly over the yard. My ponds are way too small for a heron. So nice you were able to see one.
Lovely post.
Lovely to see your friends.
Hugs,
Sherry
