Gardening and colour.

My header today is bright and cheerful, and I like it but not as much as Mr Practical. Although he does not garden he likes big bright and bold. Does this say something about him?

Now me, I am a purple, lilac but most of all white sort of person. I like the quietness that comes with white. When the sun shines through white it looks ethereal, pure, and it always makes me feel calm. I am by nature, reserved and calm most of the time. In the summer months I wear mostly white and have done for as long as I can remember. What about you, have you got a favourite planting scheme and does it reflect images of you? Leave a comment, let me know.

These are stunning bulbs and blossom on this post, Cheryl. White always makes me think of innocence.

I love your new header too...very colourful tulips :)

That's a lovely story about the very old apple tree you have...very romantic to have something that old in the garden. And I am so pleased to hear you are planting so many new specimens too. Trees are so special to me too :)

Your containers for the mason bees look interesting. this year my hubbie is going to help me make a new habitat, like the one Mark has made with pots and tubes, tiles, old bricks straw, etc to make homes for all the little creatures.

The old apple tree reminds me of a bygone age when things were slower, I time I would have liked to have seen.

Ilove Marks tower, such a good idea and so valuable to wildlife.

Tku for dropping by.

Cheryl, I am a pink! I love almost all shades of it. And I plant a lot of pinks and pastels. I do like the occasional pop of color though-reds and yellows and even white. This year I am planting more yellows and purples. Just for something different. We'll see how it works out. I really like your new header and of course you white blooms are gorgeous.

I love your white blossoms; they do look so pure and pristine.
As for me, I seem to gravitate towards pink and purple. I like pastels, but I'm not sure what that says about me. Maybe it's that they seem more peaceful to me, and I equate a garden with serenity.

Hi Beckie....I think your colours say that you are fun loving, girlie, and are willing to have a go at anything (by the yellow and purple planting).Don't know how accurate that is?

Hi Rose.....Perhaps you are looking for peace and serenity...and by putting the colours in your garden you are getting closer to your goal?

lovely whites, cheryl .. very peaceful and serene

i love the splashes of purple, white and soft yellow that you get when the herbs flower in the spring/early summer

but what i love best are hot sunny spicy colours and that's why I grow sunflowers, marigolds and nasturtiums in all scarlet, orange and yellows

when I get my own piece of land, I want to plant an autumn garden with acers and physalis and grow ENORMOUS pumpkins and squashes.

you get the idea, lol!

Hi Libby....So nice to see you back and hope Mum is okay.
Glad you like white to, men always seem to go big and bright.
Mason bees have started moving some of the soil but none are out. It is so cold here, the wind was an easterly today and I was freezing working in the garden.
If you are getting a box needs to bee out about now, remember mason bees only live for 6- 8 weeks.

Ah Hedgewitch.....you should of married my husband, lol
Seriously you are the extravert of the gardening world, I think.
Bright and bold colours eh...is that you?
For hubby I have just planted an Acer with purple trunk and burgandy leaves changing to orange in the autumn. Can't get my head around it at the moment, but give me time. Perhaps a nice white flowering Virbunham near it!!!!!
Love the thought of the huge pumpkins though. I grew some the year before last. We had pumpkin soup and roasted pumpkin for weeks.

Dear Cheryl,
I also grow lots of different white flowers. They are for me. I will cut them for my desk and my nightstand. The other flowers are for the bees and butterflies and Hummingbirds. My husband grows bamboo and tomotoes!
I am very fond of my herbs especially my lavender. I harvest for winter use.
I think I am a "white" although I do not wear white.
Fun post!
I am waiting on my Lilly of the Valley to bloom It smells so pretty!

I thought you would be a white person, I also think our moon in Cancer makes us this way.
My lily of the Valley did not do well this year. It was my paternal grandmothers favourite flower. They smell divine.
