Aubrieta

This is quite a common plant locally. You often find it hanging from crevices in walls and on rockeries. I thought this flower looked lovely with the raindrops on it. Enjoy.

I love the blog and the concept, so I'll be back.
Funny you've noticed the absence of frogs as well.

Aubrieta is one of my favourites, I love the way it forms mounds of colour. Ours is not so good this year but maybe it is still early. Great new header too!

Cheryl,
As always your pictures are an oasis of calm in a hectic world. You do so inspire me to get out there. I usually prefer my view of Lake Geneva from the comfort of my armchair, but am much more inclined to walk the hundred metres of garden to gaze at the pebbles and rippling patterns of water flowing over them. Oh peace....
Can you answer a question for me? As you know we are trying to allow our "garden" to develop into more of a natural meadow. We usually have snowdrops, primroses and cowslips in profusion, but it always distresses me that all our neighbours have beautiful hues of deep blue and carpets of violets, but we barely have any. In time will they begin to self-seed in our garden? I have heard that they do not like to be transplanted, so although our neighbours have offered us plants, I am loathe to try and transplant for fear of permanently killing off one of nature's beautiful plants. Can you help me?
Thanks,
SammieJay

What pretty flowers! And how dedicated you are to take pictures of tem in the rain. Surely the sun will come out soon.

Hi Sammiejay.....I do have carpets of violets here to. I bought several plants with me when I moved here. They have taken well and reseeded all around the garden. The sweet smell is intoxicaing. Give it a go, they will be fine I'm sure. They like some shade and love to be planted under shrubs and trees etc.

Lake Geneve is wonderful, we spent a holiday in Geneva when the children were young, beautiful.

Have a fab weekend.

Hi Beckie......I am an all weather girl, its got to be pretty bad for me not to be outside somewhere. I am a bit like a caged tiger if I can't get out.
