Log fire...March 20th....oh please

This years weather has been chaotic to say the least. Spring arrived in February, bees and butterflies were about, in small numbers admitedly. Now its heading towards the end of March and I am lighting log fires. Its cold and wet outside and snow is expected at the weekend. I am in a muddle with this weather, but can you imagine how wildlife is coping. They must be so confused, the seasons are in such a state of chaos. Its okay for us we just snuggle up indoors, and wait for the changes. Would you fancy perching in a tree in March, freezing cold, and soaking wet!!!
Sad bit of news, one of our mallards was run over yesterday, I know I'm soft but it really upset me.

Your fireplace is to die for though. I would love to see more of the old Kent country farm house while you wait for the birds and bees to arrive.

Tku so much. Its lovely living in an old house, but there is always something to do. Its lots of hard work, but I must say in all honesty I absolutely love it.

Sorry to hear about your mallard! Its amazing how attached we get!!! We have lit our front fire today as we have a northerly wind whihc is bitter, and 100year old doors don't keep all the draughts out!!!

Hi Libby....Our house is old and draughty to, so the fire is definately a bonus in this weather.

Cheryl, that fire ...... oh wow. There is nothong like a real proper fire is there. I love the smell of burning wood. I think it must be something from my childhood cos it always makes me feel safe. We inherited a big old cast iron stove in our kitchen here when we bought the house and I love it when we light it. We can't really use it at the moment as we can't fit a guard to it and there is Kyla to think about - I would never forgive myself if anything happened to her. But I do miss it.

Sorry to hear about the duckie as well Cheryl. I know how much you value all life so I know it would be upsetting for you. Big hugs and hope you are ok xxxx

Hi Dawny.....There is something very comforting about a log fire. I to love the smell and of course the ashes are good for the garden, so nothing is wasted here.

Yes I do value all life, you are so right. You are a very kind person.
Have a great Easter.

Hugs

Dearest Cheryl,
So sorry to read about one of the Mallards. I too am soft for the birds and the animals that are hit by cars.
Stay snuggled. I agree the climate changes are very hard on the wildlife.
Hugs,
Sherry

Hi Sherry....My heart aches when I see a creature that has been hit by a car.....I can almost feel its pain.

We are staying warm with log fires and the company of friends and family......how lucky I am.
